A tall polished copper flagstaff rises from an ornate stone base on an orange-red temple platform, wrapped with yellow and purple marigold garlands. A man in orange robes and a rudraksha mala reaches up to a rope, while a bald man in white dhoti and shawl with maroon borders stands on a black metal step ladder, pulling the rope and looking upward. A third person in orange holds a brass tray of offerings. Coconut palms and a white sky frame the scene, with a small table of fruit and flower offerings at right.2010-09-13September 13 20102010-09-13A photograph of a copper ritual flagpole (dhvajastambha) wrapped with orange and white cloth and decorated with yellow, red, white and green flower garlands and palm fronds. An orange saffron flag is being hoisted on ropes and yellow powder is scattering from it. Two men in saffron-orange robes stand at the base: the taller one, with long dark hair and a dark rudraksha mala, grips a rope overhead while looking upward; the other, in an orange wrap, kneels beside him holding a rope, also looking up. Palm fronds and a tree frame the sky at the edges.2010-07-01Outdoor photo of a copper flagstaff with a bronze base, set on an orange-tiled platform beneath palm trees and a bright sky.
