Night photograph of a homa fire pit at an outdoor ritual. Large flames rise from a square brick fire pit in the foreground. A man in a white kurta and white head covering stands at right, bending forward and holding a shallow vessel with fire toward the pit. A person in orange-red clothing and a red turban sits at left behind the fire, and other seated figures in white are partly visible at the right edge and in the background. Dark surroundings and a hanging cloth frame the scene.2004-07-022004 - First Sannyas Deeksha At AdiKailaasa2004-07-022004 - First Sannyas Deeksha At AdiKailaasa2004-07-02September 29 20062006-09-29Night photograph of a homa fire ritual at an ashram. A rectangular brick-lined fire pit holds a large blaze with flames leaping upward, and a second raised metal fire vessel on the right burns with a tall flame. The surrounding area is dark; faint, indistinct figures in pale clothing are visible in the background behind the fire, though they are too dim to clearly distinguish. The scene suggests a fire ceremony such as a Gyanagni or Thrisuparna homa.2004-07-02November 27 20052005-11-27September 05 20062006-09-052004 - First Sannyas Deeksha At AdiKailaasa2004-07-02A photograph of a sacred fire burning vigorously at night in a homa fire pit, with tall orange flames rising from split logs. Behind the fire, two or more people in white clothing sit close together, their faces mostly out of frame and dark. A round brass or copper vessel rests at the left edge of the fire, and dark shadows surround the scene.2009-05-28Night photograph of a homa fire pit lined with white brick and sand, with a tall flame rising from burning offerings in the centre. Two priests in white dhotis sit and tend the fire; the one at left wears an orange shawl and the one at centre wears a white head cloth and an orange cloth across his shoulder. Brass vessels, flower garlands and small offering plates sit beside the pit, and seated devotees in white are visible in the background under dim lights.2006-09-20A night photograph of a brick-lined square fire pit burning brightly at the centre, with several people in saffron-orange robes standing around it in the dark. Some hold small offering dishes or vessels toward the fire, and a figure in the middle holds a small object near the flames. Faint petals or flowers lie on the bricks of the pit. The background is almost entirely black, so the figures are only partly lit and their faces are indistinct. The scene suggests a homa or fire ritual.2006-07-23A large, bright fire blazes in a fire pit at night, with tongues of orange flame rising sharply in the centre of the frame. Two seated figures in white clothing sit behind the fire, partly hidden in darkness; one wears a white head covering and the other a white cloth draped over the shoulder. A metal vessel sits at the left edge near the fire. The scene suggests a homa or yagna fire ritual, with wooden sticks feeding the flames in the foreground.2009-05-28
