November 07 20002000-11-07Outdoor photograph of a ritual in progress. In the foreground, a shirtless man in a saffron-orange cloth kneels with his right arm raised, pressing his fingers to the forehead of a second man who stands with his eyes closed and chest bare, wearing a white dhoti and a beaded necklace. A steel vessel sits on a low wooden stool beside them, and the standing man's cupped hands hold a small white substance. Behind them, several other men in white dhotis and a figure in a red cloth stand near a concrete wall. The image shows a blessing or sacred marking being applied, with clothing colours of saffron, white and red prominent.2000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07July 05 20012001-07-05A photograph of a shirtless man in an orange saffron cloth wrapped on his head and draped over his shoulders, wearing a thick garland of yellow, red and white flowers, placing his right hand on the forehead of a seated man in a white shirt with a red rudraksha-style beaded necklace. Behind them a group of women in white and green saris stand in a room, one holding a metal bowl with flower petals. A blue drum edge is visible at the right. The orange-clad figure's appearance shows some cues such as the saffron wrap and flower garland, but these are not enough to confirm identity, so he is described by role as a priest giving blessing.April 21 20022002-04-21 +1 copiesPhoto 11710655 +2 copiesA seated man with long dark hair, bare-chested and wearing an orange-saffron shawl, leans forward and places his hand on the head of a kneeling woman with her hair pulled back. A small white card is held up by an older man in glasses and an orange shawl standing behind them. Several onlookers stand nearby in white and orange clothing, one young man in a patterned shirt, and a man in a white shirt holds lanyard badges. The setting is an indoor room with a red curtain, a wooden cabinet, and a tiled floor, with a small fan and folded papers on a low table. The seated man has a white forehead mark and is giving a healing blessing; he is probable Swamiji, identified by the long swept-back hair, saffron shawl and bare-chested ceremonial appearance.2008-04-04A crowded outdoor ritual scene at an ashram. In the foreground a man in white dhoti and shirt with an orange-red shawl bends forward, reaching toward the head of a kneeling person. To the right, two young men in white shirts and orange-red shawls stand with cupped hands holding white cloth bundles. A woman in an orange-red sari and rudraksha mala stands at centre, with a white cloth bundle in her hands. Behind them, sannyasis in orange-red robes hold ceremonial staffs and rudraksha malas, with several people in white clothes around them. Some hold white cloth parcels raised overhead.2013-12-26
