Outdoor photograph of a ritual in progress. In the foreground, a shirtless man in a saffron-orange cloth kneels with his right arm raised, pressing his fingers to the forehead of a second man who stands with his eyes closed and chest bare, wearing a white dhoti and a beaded necklace. A steel vessel sits on a low wooden stool beside them, and the standing man's cupped hands hold a small white substance. Behind them, several other men in white dhotis and a figure in a red cloth stand near a concrete wall. The image shows a blessing or sacred marking being applied, with clothing colours of saffron, white and red prominent.2000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07May 14 20122012-05-14 +1 copiesNovember 07 20002000-11-07November 07 20002000-11-07October 20 20102010-10-20December 15 20172017-12-15A photograph of a ritual exchange among several men in white dhotis with red-and-white borders. In the centre, a man wearing a gold bead necklace and a white shawl with red edging holds up a small ornate silver-and-gold object while another man beside him smiles. In the foreground, a bald man in white with a red border faces away from the camera. A wooden tray or box holds red sacred beads and a small framed picture. A man on the right wears white and a red bead mala, and several people stand behind with hands pressed together. The setting appears to be an indoor hall.2010-10-15April 26 20172017-04-26
