December 23 20062006-12-23December 23 20062006-12-23Low-angle photograph of a tall wooden ritual pole, a dhvaja-style flagstaff wrapped in twisted rope and decorated with a bundle of green leaves and grass at its base, strung with white and yellow marigold garlands and red flowers. A small red-and-gold umbrella and a red flag hang beside it. A person in a red garment stands at the left base, adjusting the pole, while a second figure in dark clothing is partly visible at the right. Blue sky and palm trees surround the scene, with a metal-roofed pavilion at the right edge.2016-03-01December 18 20132013-12-18April 14 20132013-04-14 +1 copiesDecember 24 20092009-12-24April 14 20132013-04-14 +5 copiesApril AF 2013Low-angle photo of a tall copper-coloured flagstaff, wrapped in bands and decorated with garlands of white flowers at its base, topped with a red and gold finial and strung with multicoloured bunting lines radiating to the sky. A figure in an orange-red robe with a rudraksha mala on the right holds a long white cloth flag, pulling it up along the pole against a blue sky with wispy clouds and palm fronds. The scene suggests a flag-hoisting rite during a festival.2007-12-23Low-angle photo of a tall, slender copper-coloured flagstaff rising against a clear blue sky, its surface wrapped in spiralling bands and topped by a tiered finial with tufts of straw or grass at the crown. A red-orange flag is attached near the top and guy ropes run down toward the ground. No people are visible. This appears to be the flag-hoisting pole of the Brahmotsava event.2008-12-23Photograph of a tall copper dwajastambha flagstaff with banded copper rings rising against a pale sky, topped by an orange saffron flag with a small emblem and a wrapped orange cloth near its base, with decorative garlands at the bottom. A person in orange clothing stands at the lower right beside a palm tree, holding the flag rope and hauling it up during the flag-hoisting rite.2009-07-08A tall copper dhwajastambha flagpole rises against a pale cloudy sky, its ringed copper shaft topped by a carved finial and an orange flag wrapped around it. Its base is decorated with white and yellow marigold garlands. A person in orange ochre robes stands at the lower right beside coconut palms, holding a rope that runs up toward the flag, apparently raising or hoisting the flagpole during the dwajarohanam ceremony at a temple.2009-07-08
