Dozens of devotees in white clothes with red or orange shawls walk closely behind a decorated palanquin/ratha carrying a lit deity murti, its top draped in marigold garlands and bright fabric. A large striped canopy on a long pole shades part of the crowd, and a brass parasol-like ceremonial umbrella is held forward on the right. Several participants raise their hands in greeting, and young and older men, some barefoot, make up the crowd. Trees and bamboo line the right side in darkness.2013-05-27A nighttime procession along a dirt road beside a low brick wall, lit by a bright street lamp and a flaming torch. A young man in white dhoti and shirt carries a lit torch on a stand at left. In the centre, a woman in a white sari holds a long pole bearing a red and gold embroidered banner with a bird emblem. Other people in white, orange and pink clothing walk behind, some carrying staffs and flags. At right, a brightly illuminated ornate chariot or palanquin with colourful pillars and a decorated deity image glows warmly, and a crowd stands near it. Dark green foliage lines the wall.2010-11-19September 15 20162016-09-15Night procession on a dirt path between red-orange brick walls under dark trees. A woman in a white and patterned top and grey trousers holds up a tall red pole topped by a pink umbrella with silver trim. Behind her, two men in orange robes with rudraksha malas walk beside each other, one barefoot. A crowd of devotees in white and orange follows, with lit lanterns and a drum visible further back, and a glowing ratha or chariot-like light ahead. Spot lighting and a lit lamp on the wall add contrast to the dark scene.2016-09-15A night-time procession on a dark dirt path through trees. A group of about a dozen people, mostly men in white dhotis and some in saffron or red cloths, moves forward. A bright handheld lamp and a flaming torch light the scene, and a figure carries a decorated object on the shoulders at the centre. Several people hold lights or stand near a small illuminated sign at the right. The photo is copyright-watermarked in the lower right corner.2016-09-15A night procession on a dirt road lit mainly by a single bright torch held by a man in a dark robe at centre. Behind him a figure carries an ornate ceremonial umbrella (chhatra). Dozens of people in saffron, orange and red garments, some in white dhoti-style clothing, line both sides of the road and walk in a column. A brightly illuminated temple chariot or ratha with golden lights glows in the far background, and a red wall stands at right. The scene suggests a nighttime religious procession.2016-02-17September 15 20162016-09-15
