A night fire ritual at an outdoor homa altar tiered in yellow, green and orange with pink and red flower garlands. A bare-chested priest in a blue headwrap and purple-bordered white dhoti sits cross-legged, raising a hand over the burning fire while smoke rises. Beside him a man in a white dhoti and sacred thread holds a ceremonial vessel. Behind, a crowd of devotees in white clothes stands with hands folded, and a lit display shows a deity murti. Fruit, bananas, flowers and metal bowls of rice are arranged on the altar.2015-08-31August 31 20152015-08-31 +1 copiesAugust 31 20152015-08-31Photo 11715287 +2 copiesJuly 19 20132013-07-19May 02 20172017-05-02August 31 20152015-08-31Night-time fire ritual (homa) at an outdoor ashram setting, smoke hanging in the air. In the foreground, a priest in white dhoti with a white head cloth and rudraksha mala sits before a fire pit stacked with golden-yellow wrapped offerings, pouring from a ladle, with a brass pot nearby. Other white-clad men sit around the fire with trays of flowers, fruit and brass lamps. Behind them, a raised dais holds a seated figure in orange and a golden canopy, flanked by floral arrangements, while more people in white and orange clothing move about. A large printed world-map banner hangs above. Smoke rises from the fire and marigold-red flowers and petals cover the paving.2017-05-02August 07 20172017-08-07August 09 20152015-08-09
