A bare-chested priest in a blue headwrap and purple-bordered white dhoti sits cross-legged, raising a hand over the burning fire while smoke rises. Beside him a man in a white dhoti and sacred thread holds a ceremonial vessel. Behind, a crowd of devotees in white clothes stands with hands folded, and a lit display shows a deity murti. Fruit, bananas, flowers and metal bowls of rice are arranged on the altar.2015-08-31 +1 copiesA night-time homa or yagna in a hall strung with coloured lights. A square fire pit with a raised pink-and-green edge burns brightly at centre, with smoke rising. Around it sit or kneel men in white dhotis, some bare-chested, with rudraksha or flower garlands. A man in the centre wears a pink head cloth and a rudraksha mala while tending the fire. Silver-and-white urns decorated with marigolds and red flowers stand on striped mats in front. On the right a woman in a white sari with a pink border and floral print stands near a standing man in orange and red garments holding offerings. Brass vessels and small bowls of offerings lie on the mats.2017-09-05 +1 copiesPhoto 11701973 +2 copiesSeptember 26 20172017-09-26 +1 copies
