December 06 20162016-12-06A shaved-headed man in an orange dhoti and bare chest stands at left, wearing a rudraksha mala and an armlet, holding a small bell and a spouted vessel while performing a ritual pour. Behind him a large black stone form is draped with garlands of orange marigolds, yellow blossoms, white flowers and purple blooms in vertical bands. A small golden statue stands on a brass base in front, also garlanded, and a brass pot sits at lower left. Tiered red steps with seated spectators are visible at right.2016-12-18November 23 20182018-11-23May 25 20132013-05-25 +1 copiesJanuary 01 20142014-01-01A photograph of a ritual at a flower-decorated deity murti. A man in a rust-orange dhoti-style cloth with a gold waistband and a garland of red and white flowers over his shoulder stands at left, smiling and holding a white implement over the altar. Behind him, a standing figure in orange-brown robes with gold ornaments and a headdress is framed by a tall arch of white, yellow, green, red and purple flower garlands. Orange and red marigold offerings and a small brass vessel sit at the base, with a white and pink cloth draped across the altar. Gold-toned carved railings frame the scene.2013-05-25A bare-chested priest in an orange dhoti with a red border stands at right, pouring water from a brass vessel held overhead onto a bronze statue of a standing figure. The statue wears a yellow and magenta flower garland and stands on a tiered brass pedestal, water running down its base. The priest wears rudraksha malas, a silver chain, and a forehead mark with tilak lines drawn on his arm. Behind them a wall of marigold and purple flower garlands hangs in rows, with small oil lamps glowing at the left edge. This appears to be an abhishekam, a ritual bathing of a statue, with the statue itself an image rather than a living person.2016-12-06November 23 20102010-11-23A priest with a bare chest and orange dhoti pours water from a brass pot over a bronze statue, a deity murti, which is decorated with a garland of yellow and red flowers. The priest wears a rudraksha mala and white sacred ash marks on his forehead. Behind him hang long strands of marigold and other flowers in purple, white and red, and blurred lights and onlookers appear in the background. This appears to be an abhishekam ritual.2016-12-06February 19 20152015-02-19 +1 copiesA bare-chested priest in an orange dhoti with a rudraksha mala and armlet stands at left, pouring liquid from a small vessel with a spout. Behind him a deity murti in bronze stands on a plinth, draped with a garland, in front of a wall of marigold and white-and-purple flower garlands arranged in vertical stripes. A metal bucket sits in the lower left foreground. Seated spectators fill tiered steps at right. The priest is a ritual officiant; no identifiable cues for a specific person are visible on his appearance beyond the ritual attire.2016-12-18A shaved-headed priest in a maroon dhoti and orange shawl stands bent forward beside a garlanded structure of yellow and red marigold flowers, holding a small silver bell in his right hand. He wears a white vibhuti band across his forehead, white marks on his arms, a rudraksha mala with a pendant, and a thick brown beaded necklace. Behind him is a grey stone wall with carved relief, a brass urn, and a peacock feather visible at the lower right. The scene appears to be a pada puja offering inside a temple.2014-08-17
