A central figure with long dark hair wears an orange-red garment, a multicoloured garland of white, yellow and red flowers, and a rudraksha-style necklace, walking barefoot and holding a long wooden staff. Around him, several men in white dhotis with gold borders and some in orange robes walk closely, one raising a hand in greeting. A man in a tan shirt stands at the left edge, and devotees watch from the background near the hut.2010-12-29June 23 20142014-06-23 +2 copiesA photograph of a crowded outdoor pandal with a thatched palm-leaf roof and bamboo poles, decorated with marigold garlands and strings of colourful bunting. A red carpet runs down the centre. In the middle, a young man in a saffron-orange robe stands wearing a long white-and-orange flower garland, with a dark shawl or wrap over his shoulders and a black-beaded mala; his hair is short and he is not wearing a crown or turban. Flanking him, several men in white dhotis and white shirts, some with rudraksha-style malas, stand in two lines and gesture or stand at attention. Behind them, a large crowd of seated and standing devotees, many women in saris and older people with hands folded, watches on both sides, with children at the right edge. The setting suggests a ceremonial welcome or procession at a rural temple area with a small blue-walled building behind.2009-11-25Two long lines of devotees stand along a dirt path under an overcast sky, flanked by banana plants with fruit bunches and strings of orange and white pennants overhead. On the left, women wear white saris with gold borders and yellow shawls. On the right, men in white dhotis and shirts stand with folded hands, some wearing beaded rudraksha-style necklaces. A white building and palm trees frame the scene, with a hill in the background.2008-07-27June 23 20132013-06-23 +2 copiesA photograph of a group of men standing barefoot on a dirt ground beneath a decorated archway of marigold garlands and bananas. Several men wear white shirts and white dhotis, while others wear checked shirts and trousers. A bearded man in the centre wears a white kurta and glasses, hands clasped. Banana bunches are tied to the posts on either side, and a white compound wall and trees stand behind. A young man in an orange garment sits at the lower right edge. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance cues.2006-09-29Outdoor procession on a dirt path lined with striped and fringed canopy umbrellas. A man in an orange saffron robe and a long white flower garland with a red-and-yellow tassel walks at the centre, smiling, with a rudraksha mala around his neck. Behind him a man in white shirt and dhoti raises a long wooden staff. Around them devotees in white shirts, dhotis and rudraksha malas walk, and some hold orange cloth streamers. Trees and a small building stand in the background. Appearance-based label: a person, shown walking in procession with the crowd.2006-12-30
