June 22 20132013-06-22Four men sit on a floor in a workshop crafting silver or metal relief panels with hand chisels and tools. Two men on the left and centre work on pieces resting on a wooden board and cloth; the man on the right in a striped shirt and orange lungi works on ornate silver-toned relief figures. Scattered metal tools lie on the floor, and a green industrial machine stands behind them against a white tiled wall.2013-06-25Outdoors on a sandy courtyard in front of an orange-painted wall, several men work on a large dark brown statue lying on its side on a workbench. Three men stand or crouch around it in white shirts and lungis or dhotis, one in a white shirt and grey dhoti, another in a white shirt with a grey lungi. A seated man in white shirt and white dhoti at right holds a tool and polishes or carves the statue. A stone mortar and pestle and a grey plastic water cooler sit nearby. The statue shows a multi-limbed figure, possibly a deity murti, being sculpted or restored.2013-07-05June 22 20132013-06-22 +1 copiesSeptember 06 20092009-09-06Making Of Sacred Arts UniversityJuly 14 20132013-07-14Making Of Sacred Arts UniversityA thatched workshop where artisans shape copper-coloured metal sculptures on the floor. A man in a white vest and white dhoti sits on a low stool at the right, bent over a sculpture piece and working with a torch or tool; a second seated worker in a grey shirt and dark trousers bends over metal pieces; a third man in a plaid shirt and blue checked lungi stands at the back. Scattered around them are sculpted parts, stone bases, copper-coloured figure fragments, a clay pot, cloth and bamboo walls. No deity murti is clearly identifiable and no one is clearly a person by appearance.2009-09-06Four men sit cross-legged on a bare concrete floor in a plain whitewashed room, carving white stone or plaster figures with chisels and hammers. The man at far left wears a light blue short-sleeved shirt and a checked lungi; the second man, barefoot and bare-chested, works on a small figure; the third wears a white shirt and dark lungi; the man at far right wears a checked shirt and shorts and holds a carved piece. Scattered tools, wood blocks, chips of white powder and a pink cloth lie on the floor, and clothes hang on the wall behind them. The image shows craftsmen making sculptures, with no ritual or a person visible.2013-06-26November 20 20092009-11-20A shirtless man sits cross-legged on a concrete floor in a workshop, working on silver-plated relief panels with chisels and small hammers. He wears a maroon checked lungi, a red thread around his wrist, and has a moustache. Around him lie embossed silver sheets with floral scrollwork, wooden mallets, bags of cloth, plastic water jugs and steel containers against a plain whitewashed wall. No a person appearance is visible, so this is a craftsman at work.2013-06-29
