October 22 20112011-10-22Two men sit barefoot on bare ground working on a metal sculpture. The man on the left wears a white shirt and light blue jeans and uses a chisel-like tool on the metal. The man on the right wears a teal-grey shirt, a mustard-yellow dhoti with yellow border, and a red thread on his wrist, holding a hammer. Behind them sit sacks, copper-coloured pots and other tools on the dusty ground. No deity form is clearly identifiable from this view.2009-12-13A thatched workshop where artisans shape copper-coloured metal sculptures on the floor. A man in a white vest and white dhoti sits on a low stool at the right, bent over a sculpture piece and working with a torch or tool; a second seated worker in a grey shirt and dark trousers bends over metal pieces; a third man in a plaid shirt and blue checked lungi stands at the back. Scattered around them are sculpted parts, stone bases, copper-coloured figure fragments, a clay pot, cloth and bamboo walls. No deity murti is clearly identifiable and no one is clearly a person by appearance.2009-09-06Two men crouch barefoot on a paved brick floor outside, working on a metal piece together. The man on the left, in a blue and white checked shirt and maroon lungi, holds a torch-like flame nozzle with a blue hose and works at the metal. The man on the right, in a red checked shirt and white dhoti, sits on a concrete block and hammers a small metal object with a tool. Metal tools, a metal cup, a reddish cloth and a sheet of metal lie on the ground, with a grey metal fence behind them.2011-10-22July 20 20092009-07-20June 23 20132013-06-23A workshop photograph inside a covered open-sided hall where two men work on metal sculpture near a row of deity murti statues. On the left, a bare-chested man in a white sleeveless vest and white dhoti with a red thread on his wrist holds a tool over a metal pot with a blowing torch and burning charcoal, possibly soldering or casting metal. On the right, a man in a blue t-shirt and white dhoti sits cross-legged on a wooden board with tools and a red gas cylinder beside him. Behind them stand gilded and orange-robed deity statues on carved wooden pedestals, with framed religious prints on the wall and garlands at the left edge.2016-11-18Four men sit on a floor in a workshop crafting silver or metal relief panels with hand chisels and tools. Two men on the left and centre work on pieces resting on a wooden board and cloth; the man on the right in a striped shirt and orange lungi works on ornate silver-toned relief figures. Scattered metal tools lie on the floor, and a green industrial machine stands behind them against a white tiled wall.2013-06-25Close-up photo of two craftsmen working on a copper sheet on the sandy ground. One man, seen from the knees down with bare feet, holds the copper piece steady with blue and red pliers, while the other man's hand directs a brass gas torch whose flame heats the copper. The copper is blackened and discoloured from heat, and a small metal bowl of white powder sits at the lower right. No deity, a person candidate or ritual setting is visible.2011-10-22October 19 20132013-10-19July 11 20132013-07-11A man in a checked short-sleeved shirt and white dhoti with green border squats on a bare concrete floor, hammering and chasing a sheet of copper with a hand chisel and hammer. A red thread is tied on his wrist. Around him lie metal tools, a hammered copper bowl, stacked copper pots and wooden crates, and a concrete block wall stands behind. No a person candidate is visible; the scene shows metal casting and craft work at a sacred arts setting.2006-12-10 +1 copies
