A man stands at left in an orange-saffron dhoti and matching upper cloth with a gold-edged border, wearing a long white flower garland with red blossoms, his palms pressed together in namaskar as he bows toward the tree. A brass plate of yellow flowers is visible at the lower left edge. The man's appearance does not clearly establish him as the event's named figure, so he is described only by role as a devotee performing a tree worship gesture. +2 copiesA standing man with long dark hair and a vertical tilak on his forehead presses his palms together at his chest in anjali, eyes closed, in front of a large old banyan tree with dense aerial roots. He wears a saffron-orange dhoti and matching shawl with orange waist band, a white and maroon garland of flowers around his neck, gold ornaments and red-and-gold bangles on his wrists and arms, and stands barefoot on a stone platform. Behind him a yellow and red flower garland hangs on the tree and a stone seating platform is visible. He reaches up with one arm to hang a white and red flower garland on a root, and red and yellow powder marks dot the trunk. Scattered petals and flower bits lie on the ground. A second garland hangs lower on the trunk, and a partly visible person in white stands at the left edge. The wording of the page suggests a Jayanti-day ritual, but the image itself shows only a tree-garlanding act.2007-01-01May 01 20122012-05-01April 24 20132013-04-24
