A hand wearing a gold bangle and a gold-and-white bracelet presses a dab of orange-yellow kumkum or turmeric onto the forehead of the carved figure. The murti has a carved headband, a dense carved coiffure, and curled hair ornaments; droplets of water spot its polished surface. Leafy green foliage and a tree trunk appear in the blurred background. No people's faces are visible.2010-07-15A photograph of a dark stone Dakshinamurthi murti under a tree, with a bare arm reaching in from the left to press an orange substance. The statue wears a band-patterned crown and ornate earrings, with a carved necklace and long hair visible. A silver-toned decorative arch frames the left side, and green leaves and branches fill the background. The forearm wears gold-toned bangles. No people are visible beyond the arm.2010-07-15A dark stone deity murti with a tall crown and carved ornamental collar is the central subject, its face and upper torso decorated with yellow and red marigold garlands and green leaf sprigs. A person in a red and orange sari with gold bangles on the arms reaches in from the left edge, placing a hand on the statue's forehead in a blessing gesture. A gilded ornamental backdrop with floral carving stands behind the murti. No a person candidate is visible; only the statue and the hand of an unseen devotee appear.2015-02-05Close photo of a dark stone deity murti with a tall crown, carved ornate necklace and shoulder ornaments, its face lit by daylight against blurred foliage. A bare arm with a rudraksha bracelet enters from the left, a hand resting on the statue's brow in a blessing-like gesture. The statue is a carved stone sculpture, not a living person, and the scene appears to be an outdoor ashram setting.2015-02-05September 24 20112011-09-24February 05 20152015-02-05Close-up photograph of a dark stone deity murti with a tall ornate crown and carved necklace and shoulder ornaments. A bare hand wearing a rudraksha mala on the wrist touches the statue's brow at the forehead. The background is blurred bright daylight with a golden ornamental form beyond. The statue is an object, not a physical person.2015-02-05February 05 20152015-02-05A young shaved-headed man in saffron-orange robes with a red-and-gold waist sash and a rudraksha mala pours water from a silver vessel over a large black stone deity murti. The water streams down over the statue's head and arms in an abhishekam. The priest is a sannyasi or priest performing the ritual, and no identifiable a person figure is clearly present.2013-11-25September 24 20112011-09-24
