Photo 11716636April 29 20122012-04-29Photo 11717927 +1 copiesA photograph of a ritual at a gold-covered ornate altar or throne. A priest with a bare upper body wearing a white dhoti and a gold-bordered shawl pours or scatters petals and flowers over a red-and-gold draped figure seated on the throne. Red roses and white jasmine garlands cover the seated figure. Another person in a reddish-brown dress with rudraksha malas stands at right holding a plate of yellow flowers, and several women in saffron and cream saris stand in the background near a fan and brass lamp. Visual cues do not establish a person as a physically present candidate, so the central figure's identity is uncertain. Deity murti, abhishekam or flower offering, gold throne, puja setting.2016-10-30A photograph of a seated figure on a red cushioned throne with an ornate gold backrest being showered with pink and white rose petals. A bare-chested man in a white dhoti with gold border stands at left, arm raised as he pours or scatters petals. The seated figure wears white flower garlands, gold ornaments and a rudraksha-style necklace, with dark hair. Behind, people in saffron and orange robes stand, one holding a bundle of threads. A white fan and a plain wall form the background.2017-08-07January 15 20172017-01-15Photo 11716632 +1 copiesA bare-chested priest in a white dhoti pours a shower of pink and red flower petals from a metal vessel onto a seated figure in front of a large gold peacock-fan backrest on a red cushioned seat. Garlands of white flowers and a golden staff are draped over the seated figure. A second man in orange clothing and a white-marked forehead stands to the left, watching. The scene appears to be a flower-petal offering ritual.2017-08-07Night ritual outdoors at an ashram with smoke drifting in the background. A seated figure on an ornate gold throne with red cushions wears a flower garland and a rust-brown wrap, holding a green leaf bundle raised overhead. Opposite, a bearded man in white dhoti with a red-and-white beaded garland and white sacred ash marks pours from a multicoloured kalasha-style vessel. A shirtless young man in a white dhoti and a ceremonial gold chain stands nearby, with saffron-clad attendants behind. Gold trident finials flank the throne beneath a colourful tasselled canopy. Fruit, flowers and a rangoli-like cloth lie on the floor.2017-03-16August 07 20172017-08-07January 15 20172017-01-15January 09 20182018-01-09
