October 04 20142014-10-04A large crowd of devotees dressed mostly in white sits on terraced red-brick steps beside a reflective water tank at dusk. Many wear white dhotis, shirts and saris, and some hold small items. A black stone bull statue, a Nandi, sits on a pedestal at the left centre. Clay pots and potted plants line the steps, and banana trees and string-lit wires appear above. A man in white seated near the centre-right is not identifiable as a person from appearance cues here, so the figure is described only by role as a devotee.2016-01-03January 03 20162016-01-03 +1 copiesJanuary 03 20162016-01-03Outdoor photograph of a crowd seated on tiered terracotta steps lined with potted plants, with a grey stone Nandi bull statue at the centre. Most people wear white clothing, many men in white dhotis and white shirts, and women in white saris with some in coloured saris. A few figures wear saffron or orange robes, including one standing figure in orange at the right of the steps. Many sit beside rows of small terracotta pots containing green plants, and some hold yellow bags or items. A man in a white dhoti stands at the left edge, and a few people stand near the top doorways of the building.2016-01-03Outdoor crowd of devotees seated on tiered terraces with rows of terracotta pots holding small saplings, many with palms pressed together in prayer. A large black stone Nandi bull sits on a pedestal in the centre-right, draped with garlands of orange, white and purple flowers. Most people wear white or cream clothes; several women wear coloured saris in red, green and blue. Some are seated on the steps, others stand along the railings behind. Palm-pressed prayer and seated attendance suggest a satsang or puja gathering, with a Nandi shrine as the focal point.2015-02-19A large outdoor photograph of many devotees seated on tiered red-brick steps at an open-air ashram gathering. Rows of black stone shivalingas, each set on a golden base with small oil lamps and offering plates, fill the steps, and many people sit beside them. Most attendees wear white ritual clothes, with several men in white dhotis and shawls and some women in white saris; a few wear orange, green or blue. A black Nandi bull statue garlanded with yellow and orange flowers sits at the left edge. Potted green plants line the upper steps, and white metal railings, banana plants and a tree frame the scene. A grey electrical box and a camera on a tripod stand nearby. The scene suggests a Guru Purnima satsang with shivalinga worship.2015-07-31February 27 20142014-02-27
