August 09 20162016-08-09Two shaved-headed priests perform a homa at a temple. The priest on the right wears a white dhoti and shawl with a long gold-beaded mala, sitting cross-legged with palms together before a red fire pit where a flame rises from wood. The priest on the left wears an orange dhoti and shawl with a gold mala and arm bands, seated with hands folded. Nearby stand a brass kalasha-style vessel, bowls of yellow flowers, banana leaves with offerings, and a tall brass oil lamp on the right. A microphone stands in front of them, and a red-and-white striped temple pillar is behind.2011-11-01Two shaved-headed men sit cross-legged on a pale concrete floor in front of a white-and-red striped wall with a stone step and potted plants behind them, both with palms pressed together in anjali mudra. The man on the left, in a white embroidered kurta, has eyes lowered and a black wristwatch and bead necklace visible. The man on the right wears an all-white kurta and dhoti with a saffron-orange shawl draped over his shoulders and a ceremonial bead mala, eyes closed in prayer. Appearance-based cues on the right figure (saffron shawl, bead mala, white ritual clothing) are present but limited, so identity is uncertain; the scene reads as a devotional or puja moment.2010-08-26May 16 20132013-05-16December 10 20162016-12-10February 26 20132013-02-26 +1 copiesA ritual scene in which a shaved-headed priest with bare upper body, white sacred thread and sandalwood stripes on his arms and forehead, wearing a rudraksha mala, guides a young boy in a navy shirt with a red tilak on his forehead. The priest's hands hover over a silver plate of offerings, with a glass bowl holding white and yellow items and pink flowers at the front. Behind them, a woman in a white and green sari with a black mala sits with folded hands, and a man in orange robes with a rudraksha mala and gold garlands sits behind a microphone stand. A gold-edged red backdrop frames the setting.2010-11-08May 28 20132013-05-28May 20 20162016-05-20May 20 20142014-05-20A young boy with short dark hair sits with eyes closed and palms pressed together in namaste, bare-chested except for a white dhoti with a gold border and a white-and-gold shawl draped over his shoulder. He wears a rudraksha mala and a small pendant on a cord, and a white vertical mark (vibhuti) is applied on his forehead. An adult's hand, wearing a red thread bracelet, is placed on the boy's head in blessing. Behind him stands a person in an orange-brown robe, and at the right edge a figure wears a pink-and-white floral garland. The setting suggests an initiation or blessing ritual, possibly Bautika Brahmacharya initiation.2017-05-09May 16 20132013-05-16
