A seated priest in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl sits cross-legged on a peach cloth before a fire-pit homa, with palms pressed together in prayer. He wears a beaded necklace and is bare-chested. Behind him a red velvet-cushioned golden chair holds a framed portrait of a man with long dark hair and an orange garment, garlanded with white flowers, marigolds and red blooms. Brass plates hold fruit, bundled sticks, a kalasha-style vessel, lamps and offerings; a flame burns at the fire-pit. Floral garlands decorate the shrine and the yellow-and-red banana-leaf setting.2013-01-01A photograph of a ritual puja at a temple altar. A priest in orange robes and a beaded necklace sits on the left, bent over offerings, with a brass bowl, bananas, apples, pineapple and other fruit arranged before him. In the centre a small deity murti draped in red and orange cloth and garlanded with red flowers sits on a platform, while a flame burns in a fire pit of stacked sugar-coated sweets for a homa. Behind them a large red velvet throne with gold carved legs holds a framed portrait of a man in orange robes with long hair, wearing a garland of white and marigold flowers and a beaded mala; the portrait is labelled as a printed picture rather than a person in the scene. Red and orange floral garlands and a banana-leaf plant decorate the setting, with carved stone pillars behind.2013-01-01January 1st 2013Outdoor homa at an ashram courtyard. A young man in saffron cloth with rudraksha malas sits cross-legged at left, sorting yellow flowers on a metal tray. Behind him a second young man in white dhoti reads from an open book. At right, a bare-chested priest in white pours liquid into a fire pit where smoke rises from wooden-stepped sides. Brass vessels, a bronze oil lamp, a kalasha-like pot and marigold garlands sit on the ground. On a raised orange chair, a framed portrait shows a seated figure in orange with a mala, but it is a printed picture, not a person present. Several saffron-robed devotees sit at far left.2014-10-03December 28 20112011-12-28A homa being performed at a brick-lined fire pit decorated with yellow and red flower petals. A shaven-headed man in saffron robes and a multi-strand rudraksha-style bead necklace with a gold pendant feeds the flames with a ladle-like vessel, smoke rising around him. Beside him, a younger man in white clothing with a yellow shawl sits on the floor among brass pots, a kalasha-style vessel, bowls and trays. Behind, brass lamps stand near a pink and green cloth with garlands, and a brass plate holds offerings. The setting is a tiled ritual space with a pale floor.2009-09-22A man in white ritual clothes with a yellow shawl kneels on the floor before a ceremonial setup, performing a puja. In front of him sits a silver kalasha-style vessel topped with leaves and a yellow cloth, surrounded by yellow and red offering blocks, brass bowls and flower petals. Behind the offerings, a framed portrait on a red throne-like seat is garlanded with red, yellow and green flowers. The portrait shows a figure in saffron robes with a rudraksha mala, seated with one hand raised in blessing before a tree trunk backdrop. A tall brass oil lamp stands at right. One person is visible in the scene.2010-06-06A photograph of a fire ritual at an outdoor stone platform. A man in orange saffron cloth and an orange turban sits cross-legged on a striped rug, holding a long-handled ladle over a silver bowl of offerings beside a bright flame rising from a stone fire pit. Yellow marigold garlands and red flower petals lie on the rug. Behind the fire, a purple-draped altar displays deity murtis garlanded with yellow flowers. Brass plates hold red offerings and sweets, and a kalasha-like vessel sits nearby. This appears to be a homa or yagna with an oil-fed flame.2013-10-08January 06 20182018-01-06July 20 20152015-07-20December 28 20112011-12-28December 28 20112011-12-28
