A photograph of a ritual at a temple-style hall. A man with a shaved head wears an orange saffron robe with a dark red border and bends forward over a red-cushioned seat, holding a silver tray with pink cloth and a lit lamp toward a small deity-like figure. Behind him, garlands of red, orange and purple flowers drape the stone shrine and a red throne-like seat. A yellow brick fire pit with a bright flame and brass vessels stands in the foreground, with a large green banana leaf and a red-and-white pillar at the right.2013-01-01January 1st 2013A monk in orange robes stands at a small fire pit, holding a silver plate of offerings over an open flame in a temple courtyard. He wears a gold necklace and bangles, and is bare-shouldered beside a flower-draped throne with a red cushioned seat and gold trim. Behind him a framed portrait of a seated figure rests on the throne amid garlands of red and yellow flowers, and a banana plant stands at the right near stone steps. A brass kalasha and a small brass bowl sit by the fire. The person's face is not clearly visible, so no identity is established.A priest in saffron-orange robes stands beside a large fire pit, holding a long wooden stick and guiding a flame with a dark cloth, during a fire ritual. Garlands of yellow and orange flowers hang around the area and a framed portrait behind the fire shows a smiling figure in orange robes with a mala, adorned with garlands, placed above a green-draped altar with a deity murti. Brass oil lamps stand on the right and a microphone is at the left edge. The priest wears a saffron head wrap, a long rudraksha mala and orange garments, and his appearance is not clear enough to confirm a particular person.2007-09-30January 1st 2013January 01 20132013-01-01A seated man in an orange silk garment, bare-shouldered with a gold-toned sacred thread and a bracelet on his wrist, pours a white liquid from a shell-like vessel over a Sri Meru yantra made of pale tiers on a brass tray. The yantra sits on a peetha-like base amid marigold and jasmine garlands and pink petals, with a smoking fire pit and brass vessels beside it. Behind, a shrine holds a deity murti in red and white adornments flanked by brass lamps and flowers. A person's hand holding a brass vessel is partly visible at lower left, and a tiger-striped seat cover sits at the left edge. The description of this photo's appearance-based label: the man's shaved head, orange garment, sacred thread and bracelet are consistent with a person performing the abhishekam, with an unsure identity tag.A photograph of a fire ritual at an outdoor stone platform. A man in orange saffron cloth and an orange turban sits cross-legged on a striped rug, holding a long-handled ladle over a silver bowl of offerings beside a bright flame rising from a stone fire pit. Yellow marigold garlands and red flower petals lie on the rug. Behind the fire, a purple-draped altar displays deity murtis garlanded with yellow flowers. Brass plates hold red offerings and sweets, and a kalasha-like vessel sits nearby. This appears to be a homa or yagna with an oil-fed flame.2013-10-08A seated man in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange head wrap performs a fire ritual on a tiered white platform decorated with yellow and red flower garlands. A burning wood fire with flames rises at the centre, with brass oil lamps and a bowl of offerings nearby. He gestures with his hands toward a microphone in front of him. Behind the platform, a deity murti stands draped in a green cloth and garlanded with yellow and orange flowers. Bottles of water sit on the platform, and the scene is lit at night with smoke drifting in the background. The ritual appears to be a homa or yagna.2007-09-30A homa being performed at a brick-lined fire pit decorated with yellow and red flower petals. A shaven-headed man in saffron robes and a multi-strand rudraksha-style bead necklace with a gold pendant feeds the flames with a ladle-like vessel, smoke rising around him. Beside him, a younger man in white clothing with a yellow shawl sits on the floor among brass pots, a kalasha-style vessel, bowls and trays. Behind, brass lamps stand near a pink and green cloth with garlands, and a brass plate holds offerings. The setting is a tiled ritual space with a pale floor.2009-09-22July 11 20122012-07-11A photograph of a ritual at a temple shrine. A standing priest in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl, wearing a beaded necklace and gold bangle, holds a silver tray with a pink cloth over a fire pit with a bright flame, performing an aarti or homa beside a dark ornate throne-like red chair with gold trim. Garlands of marigold and red flowers hang around the shrine, banana leaves stand nearby, and a deity murti decorated with flower garlands is visible at the upper left. The priest's face is turned down toward the flame, with no visible hair cues for identification. A printed label on the sign identifies the event title and copyright.2013-01-01
