July 09 20152015-07-09A homa fire burns in a brick-lined fire pit in the foreground, with flames rising across the frame. Behind it, a seated man in a gold-patterned robe with a red top, layered gold necklaces and a red bindi sits on an ornate gold-framed throne. Another person's leg and hand appear at the left edge, near the fire. The floor is covered with patterned rugs and red petals are scattered on the bricks.2012-07-29 +1 copiesA tall fire rises from a brick-lined homa pit in the foreground, with a copper vessel and offerings beside it. A man in the centre wears a red-orange turban and a dark beaded mala, and tends the fire while holding a ladle-like implement. Behind him, several men in white dhotis and shawls sit in a blurred group, one wearing a dark mala and another a red head wrap. The scene reads as a fire ritual during a yagna. Any identification of a person is not supported by distinctive visible cues, so the role of the central figure is described as a priest tending the homa.2015-07-09A seated man in eyes-closed meditation sits on an ornate gold-framed throne behind a large open fire pit with bright flames rising in front of him. He wears a rust-red garment draped over the shoulders, layered gold and beaded necklaces, and a red mark on his forehead, and sits on a tiger-print cloth. A bronze vessel and offering bowls stand on the foreground ground near a fire pit with a homa in progress, and a ritual attendant in orange clothing is partly visible at the lower edge.2012-07-29 +1 copiesJuly 29 20122012-07-29 +1 copiesA photograph of a homa fire ritual at night. A seated man in red-orange robes and a red turban sits behind a low yellow brick fire pit, with tall flames rising from burning offerings and wood. He holds a small object near the flame and a microphone stand is visible at left. Another person in white clothing sits at the right edge, near a small lit lamp on the fire pit ledge. The background is dark. Swamiji (probable): the seated man wears a red turban and saffron-orange robes with ornate gold-bordered fabric at the shoulder, and rudraksha-style beads are visible on the robe, supporting the page's note of a homa conducted during the Sanyas Deeksha Mahotsav.2004-07-02A photograph of a homa fire ceremony with a large flame rising from a square fire pit lined with yellow-gold metal. In the foreground at lower left, a man in a red turban and a saffron-coloured wrap sits with his back partly toward the camera. At right, a seated figure in a red-orange garment with gold ornaments, a gold pendant and a rudraksha-style bead necklace holds a long ladle over the fire, while a brass bowl sits beside the pit. Behind them, several people in white clothes sit on a green mat, some with red-stained arms, and a garland hangs on a stand. The scene is dim and warm-toned, dominated by fire.2014-05-20A tall flame rises from a rectangular fire pit at night, its base framed by yellow and white flower petals and a red-edged border on a dark stone platform. Behind the fire, dimly lit, a robed figure with a shaved head stands near a gold-rimmed brass vessel, and a second figure in white and maroon garments stands further back, adorned with beaded garlands. A ceremonial gold necklace and a small framed image are visible at right. The scene suggests a fire ritual, possibly a homa or yagna, with offerings and a ladle nearby.2016-12-19A photograph of a fire ritual at night: a flame rises from a stack of orange-red bricks in the right foreground, with a small fire pit area. Behind the blurred flame, a man sits with a bare upper body, white ash lines across his forehead, and beaded necklaces with rudraksha-style beads, seated before a backdrop of garlanded deity murtis and colourful cloth. The setting suggests a homa or yagna. Only one physical person is visible.2017-12-20Night ritual photograph in a dim hall. A fire burns in a brick-lined fire pit on a patterned carpet, with a kalasha-style pot and offerings at right. In the foreground, a shaven-headed devotee in dark clothing sits with his back to the camera, facing the fire. Seated on a gold-framed throne behind the fire is a man with long hair, wearing a rudraksha-style beaded necklace, ornate gold-and-brown adornment and a patterned wrap, hands resting in his lap in a meditative posture. A framed picture hangs on the wall behind. This appears to be a homa fire ceremony.2012-07-29A night fire ritual at a square stone homa pit blazing high with flames, scattered with marigold petals. In the foreground a priest in white dhoti and shawl, with a rudraksha mala, lifts a flaming vessel overhead. Behind him a second white-clad priest with a mala stands with hands folded, and a third at right holds a brass tray. Seated devotees in white clothes watch from the left in the dark, and a carved wooden disc and a small oil lamp appear at the edges, with strings of pennant leaves overhead.2010-10-16 +1 copiesDecember 19 20162016-12-19
