July 17 20092009-07-17Outdoor photo of a procession on a dirt road under large shade trees. In the centre, a man with long dark hair and a grey beard wears a saffron-orange robe and holds a folded orange cloth in both hands. Beside him, a person in an orange robe with a long white flower garland walks barefoot. Around them, priests in white dhotis and shawls, one bare-chested man wearing a green silk waistcloth and a white garland, and women in cream and beige saris carry offering trays with flowers and fruit. Parked silver cars and a white van line the road behind them. Two priests on the left hold a white flower garland and a leafy offering, one bare-chested with rudraksha malas and orange cloth, the other with a sacred mark on his forehead. A man in an orange-saffron robe with a long white flower garland and a rudraksha-style neck garland walks at centre, with long swept-back hair; his appearance is consistent with a sannyasi and he may be a person, though the face and build are not clearly enough to confirm. Around him, devotees in white dhotis and shirts walk barefoot, one bare-chested man in a red-orange shawl with a red garland, and a woman in a cream sari with a brown border carries a brass tray of flowers, bananas and fruit. A man in white at right carries a ceremonial staff-like object.2009-07-17A street scene in front of a yellow-walled building with garlanded roadside decorations. A man in orange robes with a long white-streaked beard and glasses stands beside a central figure with long dark hair, orange robe, red tilak and a heavy white jasmine garland with a red flower garland. A bare-chested man with white beads holds a coconut wrapped in red cloth and a white flower garland with green leaves in a ritual offering. Devotees in white and yellow clothing surround them, and a grey SUV and auto-rickshaw stand nearby.2009-07-17June 24 20142014-06-24 +1 copiesOutdoor procession on a tree-lined road with a crowd of men in white dhotis and shirts. At centre, a man in a white and gold-bordered dhoti and shawl wears a white turban and a long garland of white flowers with red accents, and holds his hands together at his chest. Beside him, a man in white with a red and gold shawl carries a long wooden pole, and another man in white holds a similar pole at right. Behind, white plumes or chamaras are carried aloft, and an orange vehicle with decorations stands at upper right. Several people wear rudraksha malas and an orange-robed man stands at left.
