Gold-carved wooden panels and red drapery frame the background.2021-03-02March 02 20212021-03-02A photograph of a homa fire ritual at a temple-style hall with gilded pillars. A priest in orange saffron robes stands at left, pouring a liquid from a golden ladle or vessel into a rectangular fire pit where flames are burning. Brass bowls and a brass vessel sit near the fire pit, and a golden lion statue and brass lamps stand on a shelf at right beside a red and gold cloth. The priest is shown only from the waist down, with the face not visible.2021-02-20A homa fire pit blazes in the foreground, flames rising high in front of a seated priest in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl, bare-chested, with rudraksha mala beads across his chest. He sits behind the fire, his head and face largely obscured by the flames, and reaches toward brass vessels and bowls set on a low platform at left, with a brass ladle in hand. Behind him hang a red cloth drape and several brass trishula standards with ornate finials, and a dark wooden interior surrounds the scene. Fresh logs surround the fire. The visible figure is a priest performing fire ritual; no appearance-based a person candidate can be confirmed, so the identity is left unsure.2022-05-25A homa fire burns in a stone-lined fire pit in the foreground, with large logs at the edges. Behind the flames, a seated figure in orange clothing sits with their back to the camera, holding a small vessel near a brass bowl. Brass vessels, a brass plate with offerings, and trident-topped brass staffs stand around the space, with maroon drapes behind. The figure has long dark hair tied up on the head. Appearance-based label: the seated figure could be a person, but the back-facing view and fire obscuring the figure leave identity uncertain.2022-05-25March 05 20152015-03-05A homa fire ritual at night. A priest with bare upper body, orange-red cloth wrapped at the waist, rudraksha bracelet and a long beaded necklace pours grains from a metal vessel into a blazing fire pit. Next to him a second priest in an orange-red dhoti holds a brass plate. Bananas and garlands of yellow and white flowers with red roses lie near the flames. Sparks rise from the fire, and gold-framed panels stand in the background.2021-03-02October 11 20212021-10-11April 11 20182018-04-11 +1 copiesClose photo of a homa fire pit during a Chandi Homa ritual.
