April 28 20172017-04-28Night photo of a homa in an open-sided shelter with a corrugated metal roof and string lights overhead. A small fire burns at left beside the fire pit, with brass and clay vessels nearby. In the foreground a shaven-headed man in a white dhoti stands with his back to the camera. Beside him, a man in an orange-saffron wrap stands near the fire. A woman in a white sari with a red border and gold trim holds a white and gold garland, and a blonde woman in a red shawl and white outfit stands with palms joined in prayer. A young man in white dhoti and shawl raises a green leaf or ritual item. Other participants in white clothes sit or stand on striped red, green and blue mats across the floor. A darker wrap and white ritual garments fill the background, with the mats and floor marked with kolam patterns.2017-04-28April 28 20172017-04-28December 22 20162016-12-22October 16 20102010-10-16 +1 copiesJuly 07 20152015-07-07September 17 20172017-09-17 +1 copiesNight-time ritual gathering under a white tent hung with coloured lights and bright spotlights. In the foreground a bare-chested priest in white dhoti and orange shawl raises a green leaf in one hand and holds a pot of water in the other, while rows of seated devotees in white dhotis, many with bare backs and white ritual lines, sit on striped rugs. Behind them stands a woman in an orange sari, and a golden altar with flowers, fruit and brass vessels stretches across the middle. Banana plants flank the scene, and a screen shows a projected image. The setting suggests an abhishekam-style ceremony.2016-12-02December 22 20162016-12-22 +1 copiesA night-time outdoor ritual photo. Several bald men in white dhotis and bare upper bodies sit on a raised platform around a fire pit. A standing priest in white dhoti and red-bordered cloth extends his hand over the fire, with gold necklaces on his chest. A seated devotee in white with palms joined faces the ceremony. Brass oil lamps with lit flames stand in the foreground, with fruit offerings, a green silk-bordered bundle with flower garlands, and a kalasha-like ritual setting. Gold rings hang from a pole overhead, with decorative banners and green leaf garlands strung across the scene.2010-10-15October 15 20102010-10-15October 15 20102010-10-15
