October 11 20112011-10-11Night photograph of a very large black stone Shivalinga on a circular yoni-style pedestal, standing in a shallow water-filled basin. Water streams down the lingam, which has horizontal white marks across its middle. Two priests in white dhotis stand on a metal staircase and railed platform beside it; one pours water from a vessel onto the top of the lingam. A third figure in saffron-orange robes stands at the base of the stairs with a white-clothed attendant. Tiered red-brown seating rises behind the basin under dark sky and a lit building.2011-10-11Night photograph of a large black cylindrical lingam sculpture with silver-and-gold banded ornamentation at its base, while a steel staircase railing platform rises beside it. Three priests stand on the platform: one in an orange saffron robe with hands folded in prayer on the far left, and two in white dhotis performing a ritual, one holding a lit flame or lamp aloft toward the lingam. Smoke rises from the platform, and a dark night sky and a multi-storey building lie behind. Four people are visible in total.2011-10-11 +1 copiesSeptember 23 20102010-09-23A large grey stone Shivalinga stands on a circular yoni-pitha base in a shallow water basin at dusk, with a lit lamp panel on its cylindrical shaft. A white metal staircase railing leads up beside it, where several people in white ritual clothes climb toward a central figure in saffron-orange robes standing on the steps. Tiered rows of small clay lamps line the terrace walls behind, and a multistorey building rises in the background.2011-10-11 +1 copiesPhoto 11744461 +1 copiesNight photograph of a large black Shivalinga standing in water, with fountain jets of water spraying upward and around it. Three gold-and-red decorated face panels (mukhalingam faces) are fixed to the front of the linga base, and a white horizontal tripundra marking sits on its upper face. Red and white striped pavement borders the waterline, string lights glow in the background, and rows of empty red seating are visible beside the scaffolding. No people are visible.2010-11-23 +1 copiesJuly 01 20132013-07-01November 22 20102010-11-22A large black stone Shivling with a smooth polished grey-silver upper cylinder stands on a dark black yoni-peetha base, decorated with a multicoloured garland of marigolds and flowers draped in an arch behind it. White tripundra-style markings are painted on the lingam. Several saffron-robed monks stand on a white metal scaffold staircase and platform at the left and back, some holding white cloths and vessels, apparently preparing or performing a ritual abhishekam on the Shivling. Rows of seated devotees in orange clothing fill the terrace seating behind, blurred in the distance. Trees and a red building are visible at the edges under a pale sky.2013-06-10A large black polished lingam rises from the frame, its base wrapped in silver bands. A priest in white dhoti and shawl stands on a rusted metal scaffold platform, pouring yellow marigold flowers from both hands onto the top of the lingam. Scattered petals fall around it. A second person in an orange-saffron robe stands on the lower steps of the scaffold, partly visible at the left edge. Grey overcast sky and green trees form the background. The scene suggests abhishekam-style floral offering at a Shiva lingam.2010-09-232010 - Photo Album
