A large blue-grey Shiva lingam, rising from a flower-decorated black yoni-shaped base garlanded with red and orange flowers and white rope, stands in a water-filled outdoor ceremony at a stadium-like space with red tiered seating. A metal staircase leads up to a platform where several people in saffron and orange robes stand near the lingam, one raising his arms. Along the lower steps and the water edge, many people in white ritual clothing are gathered, and a striped red-and-white barrier runs along the foreground. The scene suggests an abhishekam-style ritual, though this is not fully certain.October 12 20112011-10-12November 21 20102010-11-212010 - Photo Album +1 copiesA large black polished lingam rises from the frame, its base wrapped in silver bands. A priest in white dhoti and shawl stands on a rusted metal scaffold platform, pouring yellow marigold flowers from both hands onto the top of the lingam. Scattered petals fall around it. A second person in an orange-saffron robe stands on the lower steps of the scaffold, partly visible at the left edge. Grey overcast sky and green trees form the background. The scene suggests abhishekam-style floral offering at a Shiva lingam.2010-09-23October 12 20112011-10-12October 22 20102010-10-22October 12 20112011-10-12A large outdoor photograph of a ceremonial abhishekam at a black stone Shiva lingam set on a flower-decorated circular platform. Several figures in saffron and orange robes climb a metal staircase toward the top of the lingam, which is garlanded with marigolds and a flower chain. Below, a long line of people in white ritual clothes ascends or waits along the stairs and gathers across the terrace. Red-and-white painted steps lead up at the left, a shallow water pool reflects the lower platform, and unfinished concrete structures with tall spires stand in the background.January 02 20102010-01-02 +1 copiesSeptember 23 20102010-09-232010 - Photo Album
