One hand, with henna-patterned fingers and a white garment sleeve, receives a small bundle of dried grass tied with thread from another hand bearing a blue-ink trident-like tattoo on the back. Wisps of incense smoke rise in the background, and a small metal figurine of a seated deity murti and a flickering oil lamp sit on the altar below. Out-of-focus saffron and orange robes fill the backdrop.2014-11-27 +1 copiesClose-up photo of a ritual exchange in a temple-like room. A man in white dhoti with gold-bordered cloth and a heavy gold bead necklace holds a silver plate of yellow-orange thread or kalava and ties it on another person's wrist; that wrist shows a green-and-clear bead bracelet and gold bangles. Beside them, a person in an orange-red saffron robe with gold border and a gold bead necklace with a pendant holds a second silver plate. Behind is an ornate gold-and-red throne-like chair, and on the right a tray with flowers, red cloth and small ritual items. Orange-painted walls surround the scene.2010-12-23December 12 20162016-12-12March 18 20172017-03-18Close photo of a person's hands holding a small folded bundle wrapped in brown fabric with gold-yellow ribbon edging, held over the lap. One woman's hand with gold bangles and red-and-black threads on the wrist reaches in from the left, while another woman's hand, adorned with a ring and a red and brown beaded bracelet, holds the cloth from below. A red bundled cloth sits at the left edge, and a blurred figure in a cream sari with a rudraksha mala appears in the background. Warm lighting suggests a ritual offering or annadan setting.2016-07-19December 14 20112011-12-14A close photo of a ritual exchange during a Sadashivoham event.
