Night procession outside an illuminated temple, with a large crowd pressing around a palanquin carried on poles and decorated with flower garlands. A colourful multicoloured canopy umbrella is held above the central group. Several saffron-robed sannyasis walk within the crowd, one with a bare shaved head and orange cloth, another in a pale orange robe. Men in white dhotis and uniformed police officers in khaki stand nearby, and brass ritual lamps are carried at the left edge. Strings of lights outline the temple walls and a tall gopuram rises behind. Several saffron-clad figures in the procession are visible, and a figure with long swept-back hair and ornate orange-gold clothing near the palanquin may be a person, though the identification is uncertain.
