Devotees walk alongside in white dhotis and kurtas, some in orange or red sashes and red headcloths, some holding a large black umbrella and a long staff. A bare-shouldered shaved-headed man in white and red wrap leads the group in the foreground. Garlands and drapery decorate the chariots, and small trees and shrubs frame the lower edge.2012-04-26A night procession on a dirt path lit by lamps and car headlights. Two ornate decorated chariots with red and gold temple-style canopies and a lit, garlanded deity murti travel through the crowd. Devotees in white and saffron/orange clothes walk alongside, some in white dhotis and shirts, some in red and orange shawls. A bare-chested man in a red cloth and white shawl walks at left, and a man in white carries a dark case. A multicoloured umbrella shades a group at center. Trees and flowering plants frame the scene. No individual can be confidently identified as a person from appearance, so the figures are described by role only.2012-04-26December 24 20132013-12-24A night procession on a sandy road passes a brightly illuminated ratha or temple chariot with a tiered, lamp-lit roof and carved figures, decorated with string lights and flags. Ornate red, orange and gold ceremonial umbrellas on long poles lead the line, and a bright lamp glows on the ground ahead. Robed devotees line both sides: a man in saffron/orange robes with a bare upper body, a shaved-headed man in white, women in saris of orange, green and pink, and a figure with a long rudraksha-style mala. A cameraman films the group, and smoke rises near the left side. Deity murti visible on the chariot.2016-09-05Night procession on a dirt path beside a tree strung with orange and red flowers and garlands. A decorated float or chariot with a glowing lamp is pulled by a red tractor, and devotees in white dhotis and orange or saffron clothing walk around it. Many people carry trident-like staffs and some wear orange shawls and rudraksha-style necklaces. A man in white clothes at the front holds a drum or large vessel. A woman in a light sari with a hat stands at right. Lights glow from a building in the background.2012-04-26
