A homa fire ritual at night in an open courtyard. A fire burns in a yellow-edged stone fire pit strewn with yellow flowers. Five young men in saffron-orange robes sit around it. The central one wears an orange turban and a gold necklace, and pours an offering from a ladle into the flames. Another wears a rudraksha mala and holds a ladle; a man in an orange shawl and brown beaded mala speaks into a microphone, and another holds a small silver vessel. Smoke rises above them. White sacred ash marks the foreheads and arms of the men.

A night-time homa at an outdoor ashram setting. A large yellow-painted fire pit burns brightly in the foreground, with lemons placed around its rim and bundled sticks feeding the flames. Behind it, a young man in white dhoti and shawl, wearing a green head cloth, a gold necklace and red-and-gold armbands, raises a metal lamp with a flame high in one hand. Around the fire, several young men in saffron-orange cloths and rudraksha-style beaded necklaces sit with white painted markings on their faces and arms; one has hands folded in prayer and another sits behind a microphone stand. Two onlookers in white stand in the background near a wooden pillar.

A photograph of a homa or fire ritual in a temple hall. A large open fire burns in a raised wooden-framed fire pit at the centre-bottom, with smoke rising. A seated priest with a green turban and bare chest, wearing a white dhoti with a striped border, holds a small lamp or offering over the fire. A second priest in a white dhoti stands bent over beside him, holding a lamp. Behind them a woman in an orange-red sari presses her palms together in prayer, and another figure in a red-orange sari stands to the right beside a white-draped table with red flowers. Brass vessels, marigold and yellow flower garlands, and a pile of rice grains sit near the fire pit. Striped red and white pillars and steps frame the background, where other people in white stand watching.

A young boy in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl, wearing a rudraksha mala and tilak on his forehead and red wrist threads, holds up dried grass and stands beside a homa fire pit built of wooden logs and dry grass on a yellow-painted platform decorated with red roses, white flowers and yellow marigolds. Behind him a bald priest in orange robes with a white tilak sits near a brass vessel. Seated devotees in white and pale clothing watch from the dark background.

A night homa ritual beside a brick fire pit with a bright flame, lined with yellow-painted edges. A young boy seated on a low wooden seat with a patterned cloth, wearing orange saffron cloth and a rudraksha mala, white body markings on his arms and chest, looks toward the fire. Beside him, a shaved-headed boy in orange and rudraksha malas sits on the floor pouring offerings, while another boy in orange with a tilak holds a bowl. Brass bowls of offerings, a bundle of sticks and a lamp sit in front. A young attendant in an orange turban and multiple malas holds a tray of herbs and offerings. Lamps and a brass vessel are visible at the edges.

A young man with a shaved head and white tilak marks sits cross-legged on a striped mat performing a homa. He wears an orange saffron robe with a maroon border and a rudraksha mala around his neck, and gold earrings. He holds a stick feeding into a flaming fire pit made of yellow blocks. Behind the fire, a kalasha-like offering is decorated with a white jasmine garland and a mango leaf. A microphone stands on the right beside a maroon curtain.

A fire ritual at night: a tall flame rises from a wood fire pit (homa) on a wooden platform with a yellow edge and dry straw at its base. A young man in a white dhoti-style cloth and a beige turban holds a stick toward the fire, wearing a long rudraksha mala and bangles. Beside him, a second person in an orange-saffron garment with a rudraksha mala looks toward the flames, and another figure stands behind the fire in the smoke. The background is dark and smoky.
