December 16 20102010-12-16Close outdoor view of two rust-red clay bricks set on reddish-brown earth. Each brick has a cluster of white and yellow chrysanthemum-type flowers placed on top. A metal rod or staff stands upright between the bricks. Turmeric-yellow and red kumkum powder and white rangoli-like lines are scattered on the ground around them, with more loose yellow and white flowers at the base. No people are visible; the scene looks like a small ritual arrangement prepared on the ground.2010-12-16December 16 20102010-12-16December 16 20102010-12-16Close outdoor photograph of two reddish-brown clay bricks set on bare red earth, with a thin metal rod standing upright between them. Yellow and white chrysanthemum-type flowers are arranged across the tops and sides of both bricks, with red kumkum powder and yellow turmeric powder scattered nearby. Loose petals lie on the ground and white and yellow powder marks decorate the soil at the corners. No people are visible.2010-12-16April 24 20132013-04-24A square brick fire pit for a homa, with flames and smoke rising from burning wood at the centre. The brick rim is decorated with turmeric-yellow and red powders, white rice or flour, yellow marigold petals and cinnamon-like sticks. A silver bowl of yellow liquid sits at the left edge, and a hand holding an open book appears at the upper right. No people are clearly visible beyond the hand and a sleeve in white.2015-07-18 +1 copiesDecember 16 20102010-12-16A homa fire pit built of turmeric-coated mud bricks decorated with white kolam-style lines and yellow marigold flowers. Dry sticks are stacked in the central opening. A priest in white dhoti and a striped shawl sits behind, holding an open book, with a brass bowl of yellow liquid and a ladle at left. Silver kalasha pots and green leaves are visible at upper right. No person's face or full body is shown clearly enough to identify anyone.2011-12-28Close ground-level photograph of a construction-style site with red earth. At top left, the lower legs and orange sari hem of a standing person are visible, but no face is shown. Foreground shows several rough concrete blocks with orange-painted edges, decorated with scattered flower petals and marigold-like yellow blossoms in pink, red and yellow. A split white coconut lies on the ground beside a larger grey stone block, with coconut husk fibres visible. Loose rubble and pebbles surround the scene. The arrangement suggests a ritual bhoomi or foundation-laying offering of coconut and flowers.2016-09-15 +1 copiesDecember 16 20102010-12-16May 26 20152015-05-26
