August 18 20162016-08-18A homa fire ceremony takes place outdoors under a pavilion. A small fire burns on a low platform in the centre, with smoke rising. A man with long dark hair in an orange robe and rudraksha garland sits at the right of the fire, hands folded, and others in orange and white sit in a circle around it. Behind them stands a large painted deity murti of a standing couple in red and gold, and an orange shrine with a seated figure in saffron, flanked by potted plants. Several rows of devotees in orange saris and robes sit on the ground, many with rudraksha malas, hands in anjali. Brass vessels and a fan are at the right edge.2013-06-13August 18 20162016-08-18Outdoor temple-style ritual under a corrugated metal canopy, with a sacred fire pit in the foreground. A seated man in orange robes with a rudraksha mala and forearm bands sits at the right beside a raised, gold-ornate seat decorated with white and red garlands. Behind him, several men in saffron and orange robes stand or sit, one holding a silver vessel, while a woman in a red blouse and orange-red wrap raises a hand toward the seat. Nearby, a young woman in an orange sari sits in front of a microphone, and a row of boys in orange and saffron robes, some with white tilak marks and rudraksha malas, sit with palms joined. Ceremonial umbrellas with teal and gold trim, decorated staffs, and a trident are visible. Palm trees and red-roofed buildings surround the scene.
