Hundreds of people, most bare-chested men in white dhotis and women in white saris, sit in rows on the steps, many with small brass or metal vessels set before them. A few figures in red robes stand at the left edge and near the right side, and a red flag and a lamp post are visible. A dark banner-like backdrop and a faded blue emblem sit on the back wall. The scene suggests a large ritual or congregational gathering, but no specific ceremony is clearly identifiable.2017-05-22March 07 20162016-03-07A photograph of a large crowd seated on a tiered stepped amphitheatre with alternating red and white brick-patterned steps at dusk or night. Many participants wear white clothing, some with yellow or gold ceremonial cords, and some wear orange, red and teal garments. Several sit on mats and blue cloth spread on the lower steps near dark water. A few people sit in the upper rows with bags beside them. Lamps are faintly visible along the water's edge.
