Night photograph of a Karthigai Deepam lamp offering on a dirt ground. Many terracotta oil lamps with lit flames sit on flat woven bamboo trays in rows. Standing devotees in white and colourful saris, a woman in a red salwar outfit, and a man in a red-orange robe watch and tend the lamps; a woman in a yellow-orange sari kneels near the trays. Several people in white dhoti-style clothing stand in the background.

Night outdoor scene at a temple-like ground with dirt floor and scattered rubble, lit by street lamps. In the foreground, several women in saffron-orange sarees wear rudraksha malas; one carries a clay oil lamp with a lit flame, another holds a small lamp in both hands. Behind them, women in white sarees stand with palms pressed together in prayer, and a woman in a blue saree stands nearby. A long mat runs down the centre path, lined with lamps. Further back, many people in saffron and white stand in the dark, and a garlanded deity murti with red-and-gold draping sits on a stone platform at right. Karthigai Deepam lamp-lighting is suggested by the oil lamps.

Close photo of a round metal tray held by hands at a night event, holding several small clay oil lamps lit with flames. A woman in an orange saree with a pink border and a rudraksha mala lifts a lamp from the tray. Beside her, another woman in a cream and gold saree wears a rudraksha mala and holds a bronze bowl lamp, and a sandy ground surrounds them.

Night photograph of a Karthikai Deepam lamp ritual at an ashram courtyard. A circular tiered platform is lit with many oil lamps, and a tall pole stands beside it. Several people in light-coloured clothing hold up lit torches or lamps, including a woman in a sari at left and a figure in white at centre-right. Rows of small oil lamps line a long low building and the wall behind, and a crowd of seated devotees sits in shadow at left. No clearly visible a person candidate is present.

Rows of devotees sit cross-legged on a tiled floor performing an aarti, holding small oil lamps with flames in both hands. Most women wear orange, maroon and white saris or salwar, some with gold bangles, and men in white kurtas sit among them. Brass plates on the floor hold fruit, flowers and offerings, and a clear mat-marked aisle runs between the rows. No single figure is identifiable as a person, and no clearly identifiable a person figure appears in the image.

Many clay oil lamps burning on woven bamboo trays scattered across a floor, their flames glowing warm orange in the dim light. Several lamps are stacked in tiers, and some trays are unlit. A figure in a red and gold patterned garment stands at the upper right edge of the frame. No faces are visible in the foreground, and the scene suggests a Karthigai Deepam lamp-lighting arrangement, with lamps set out for the festival.

Dim evening scene of a devotional gathering. In the foreground, a young woman in a white and red sari with a red shawl sits cross-legged, holding a lit oil lamp in one hand and raising a brass lamp toward the flame. Beside her, another woman in a white sari with a red border sits and handles a brass ritual vessel. Behind them, rows of seated devotees in red and white clothing hold small flames, with many lamps and diyas glowing on the floor. The atmosphere is quiet and focused, with the warm light of the flames illuminating the dark room. No a person candidate is visible in this view.
