July 14 20132013-07-14Outdoor ritual on bare red earth under a canopy. In the centre stands a man in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl with a long rudraksha mala and long swept-back hair, looking down at the work. Two men in white dhotis crouch over a grey clay or stone sculpture being shaped with chisels and tools, apparently an image under construction. Behind them a crowd of devotees in white and orange-red garments, some with red shawls and rudraksha malas, watches closely. Scattered chips and debris lie on the ground.2013-07-14 +1 copiesJuly 14 20132013-07-14 +1 copiesJuly 14 20132013-07-14A photograph of a temple-side ritual outdoors under a tree. Around them many devotees in saffron and white clothing carry earth, stand on the dirt and work along the site. A water tank on a metal stand and green trees appear in the background, and a white hose lies on the ground.2006-12-09February 11 20132013-02-11A crowded outdoor ritual scene with bare earth and ash on the ground. Two men in white dhotis and white shirts crouch over a flat stone slab, one holding a metal tool and striking the stone, while others kneel nearby. Around them stand devotees in orange and saffron sarees and dhotis with gold borders and red shawls, many wearing rudraksha malas. A seated woman in orange sits on a chair at the top of the frame, and a bald man in orange holds a mala at the lower right. A child with curly hair in white clothes stands at the left among attendees in white with red lanyards. Burnt material and ash cover the ground near the stone.2013-07-14July 07 20092009-07-07 +1 copiesMay 05 20122012-05-05Outdoor ground-breaking or bhoomi puja on bare reddish earth in front of a grey breeze-block wall, with palm trees behind. In the foreground a bare-chested priest in an orange dhoti bends over a small silver tray holding flowers, fruit, a lamp and a bowl, with marigold garlands nearby. Beside him, a second man in orange with a rudraksha mala and bare chest stands on a multicoloured striped cloth, holding a ceremonial item. Behind them, a gold throne with red cushions and a colourful fringed canopy holds a seated figure in orange robes, possibly the honoured guest, though his face is not clearly visible.
