Three men in white ritual dhotis sit cross-legged on the floor performing a lamp ritual. The man on the left, bald and bare-chested with a wine-coloured bordered cloth, holds a small brass oil lamp and a brass vessel. The middle man, with a tilak on his forehead and white vibhuti streaks on his arms, holds a brass lamp and a rudraksha mala. The man on the right, wearing glasses and a gold bangle, holds a lit brass oil lamp. Behind them, a blue-lidded plastic container and brass items sit on the floor, and a person in an orange shirt stands at the right edge. The setting appears to be a hall with white doors, and the scene suggests an aarti or lamp offering.2011-11-09November 10 20102010-11-10 +1 copiesSeveral men seated on the floor in white ritual dhotis and shawls with maroon borders hold small brass oil lamps lit with flames during a ritual. The man in the centre, bare-chested with a rudraksha mala and a red-brown pendant, extends his lamp forward with his arm. Beside him, a man with a white tripundra on his forehead and another in plain white also hold lamps. On the left, a close-cropped man in white with a red thread holds a lamp and appears to chant. Brass plates with flowers, betel and offerings rest on the floor, and a green-and-gold draped table stands in the background. This is a lamp-lighting ritual, consistent with aarti.2010-11-30November 18 20102010-11-18 +1 copiesA row of shaved-headed men in white dhotis and white upper cloths perform aarti with oil lamps during a puja. The men in the foreground and middle hold brass lamps and a brass bell, with white and tilak markings on their foreheads, and one wears a rudraksha mala. Brass plates with flowers, a brass bell and incense sticks sit on mats on the floor. No figure stands out as a person candidate from appearance, so the men are described by role only.2011-01-28A dim evening ritual scene with several shaved-headed men in plain white dhotis and shawls, many with white vertical tilak stripes on their foreheads and rudraksha malas around their necks. In the foreground, a young man in the centre raises a small lit oil lamp toward the viewer while chanting, a blue lanyard around his neck. Beside him, another man holds a lit lamp, and at the far right a man holds a brass bell and a lamp. Seated behind them, an older bearded man in white with a red-and-white mala watches, and further back audience members sit on chairs.2010-10-27Photograph of a group of male devotees seated closely together during a puja, mostly in white dhotis and white shirts. The foreground man has a shaved head and white markings on his face and arms; the man in the center wears glasses and a silver bracelet, holding a lit flame on a small lamp toward the viewer. Brass bells and small brass lamps sit on the floor in front, and a smoky haze fills the warm-lit room.
