In front, a boy in an orange dhoti and a rudraksha mala holds a brass bowl and has white and red markings on his forehead. Behind them, a man with grey hair and white markings on his forehead and arms stands with a hand on his hip. At far left, a bare-chested man in a white dhoti with a red thread on his wrist and a small pendant stands beside a small child. Some people show white ash lines on their faces and arms.2017-11-19Night photograph of a Deepavali-related ritual in warm lamplight. Four men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls stand in a row before dark foliage. On the far left, a bare-chested young man holds a lit oil lamp with a visible open flame. Next, a man with a tall topknot and a wooden tray of dark offerings stands with a rudraksha-style mala and a gold necklace. Behind him, a third man with long hair and beaded necklaces holds a bell. On the right, a man in an orange turban with gold-framed glasses, a long rudraksha mala and bare chest stands with palms pressed together in anjali mudra, a gesture of greeting and reverence. Gold-bordered orange cloth is draped over his shoulders. The scene reads as an aarti with a lamp and offerings. The a person candidate is the right-hand figure in the turban and mala, whose appearance is consistent with the page, though the identification is uncertain.2016-10-29October 29 20162016-10-29November 26 20112011-11-26November 27 20112011-11-27
