June 27 20132013-06-27A photograph of a shaved-headed priest in a white dhoti and white shawl pouring white powder from a clear bowl onto a dark black Shivalingam on a stone base. The priest wears wire-rimmed glasses, a gold-beaded necklace and a gold pendant, with white sacred markings on his arms. Behind him, a deity murti in a red and gold sari is draped in red and yellow rose and marigold garlands, with a gold crown and a long braid visible at right. Gold-patterned stone and a blue curtain form the backdrop. This is a ritual abhishekam with a white powder offering.2011-09-13June 26 20142014-06-26September 13 20112011-09-13September 13 20112011-09-13March 07 20162016-03-07February 24 20172017-02-24March 07 20162016-03-07February 13 20182018-02-13September 19 20112011-09-19September 13 20112011-09-13A shaven-headed priest in an orange-red dhoti and wrap with a gold border stands at a black stone shivalinga on a dark pedestal, pouring milk or water over it from a large brass vessel held in both hands. White liquid streams down the lingam. Behind him are gold-framed deity figures, garlands of yellow and purple flowers, and red blossoms. On the left stands a gilded statue of a standing figure with raised hand, and at lower right a white marble statue of a figure in a turban. This appears to be abhishekam at a temple shrine. The visible people are the single priest.2011-03-03
