A photograph of a fire-walking procession at an outdoor temple festival. A bearded man in white kurta and dhoti, with an orange shawl over his shoulders, walks barefoot across a bed of glowing embers on a dirt path. Around him, devotees in white clothes and orange shawls press their palms together, and drummers in white and orange play large drums. Behind them stands a decorated ratha/chariot with flower garlands and red-and-white canopy, and a tall wooden pole rises above the crowd. Palm trees and orange flags frame the scene, and a large crowd of devotees lines the route.2007-12-30Outdoor procession on a cloudy day in front of a striped temple gopuram-style shrine.
