A man with long dark hair in an orange robe sits on a white plastic chair at left, arms folded. Beside him, a shaved-headed young priest in orange robes with white forehead marks sits cross-legged on a low wooden platform, hands joined in a mudra over a metal bowl and silver vessels, a brass teapot and covered dish. To the right, an ornate brass deity murti with a decorated arch and garland stands on a draped white and green-bordered cloth, with brass lamps and a small brass kalasha-like vessel. A worker in white sits in the background among stone pillars and foliage. Ritual abhishekam-style puja setting.2007-02-23February 23 20072007-02-23Photograph of a temple ritual at dusk in front of a dark stone Shivalinga, which is decorated with yellow and orange flowers and petals. A smiling man in saffron robes with a sash over one shoulder raises his right arm high, flicking or scattering petals. Beside him stands a bald, bespectacled priest in saffron robes with a beaded rudraksha-style mala, holding a silver plate of flowers. A bearded man in orange robes at left holds a lit oil lamp, and another robed attendant stands behind. Ornate golden pillars, a brass oil lamp and a red curtain form the background.2010-01-02 +1 copiesFebruary 23 20072007-02-23A photograph of a seated man in saffron-orange robes with long dark hair, a red bindi, and a rudraksha mala, smiling as a standing man in white kurta with folded hands greets him with an outstretched hand gesture. Several people in white and orange clothing stand or sit nearby, including one in a yellow shawl at left. Behind them is a shrine area with brass oil lamps, a kalasha-like brass vessel, a red-draped offering box with fruit and sweets, and a deity murti in a red and gold setting with garlands. The seated central figure shows distinctive long hair and orange robes, a person candidate, though appearance is only partially distinctive.2010-06-13A ritual scene in a stone-walled hall with a grey concrete floor. A man in orange robes with a red-bordered cloth sits cross-legged at a low wooden platform with brass and steel vessels, a plate of white offerings and burning incense. Around him, several people in orange robes stand or kneel, one shaved-headed man in orange holds a small brass pot, and a woman with long dark hair in orange sits near the platform. Ornate brass lamps and a brass kalasha stand on the right beside a yellow-and-gold metal shrine, with orange ceremonial strips hanging from bamboo poles above. The page identifies this as an initiation into poornabhisheka vratha, but the robed man at the platform is not confidently identifiable from appearance, so the role is described only as a presiding priest.2007-02-23February 23 20072007-02-23A seated figure in an orange saffron robe with long dark swept-back hair smiles while a kneeling man in a cream and brown striped kurta clasps his hands. The seated figure sits on an orange cushioned throne with a red pillow, bare feet on a low step. Behind them stands a shrine with brass lamps, a kalasha, and deity murti in colourful garlanded alcoves. Two people in white ritual clothes stand at left, one in an orange shawl, and a woman in pink at right.2010-06-27February 23 20072007-02-23
