A dim, earth-walled sacred chamber beneath a large banyan tree, with a small oil lamp burning inside the dark opening. In the foreground, a shallow pit of freshly turned soil holds a yellow stone slab scattered with yellow and white flower petals. A small stone stool or altar sits centrally, also dusted with petals and a bit of yellow powder. Concrete walls frame the passage, and a brass plate of ash or powder rests on the left ledge. No people are visible.2013-04-24August 17 20122012-08-17Photo 11734405August 17 20122012-08-17August 17 20122012-08-17A photograph of a man in a white dhoti and sleeveless white vest bending over a small square fire pit, blowing or fanning flame and smoke from the ground. The pit is decorated with yellow and white flower petals, and a small pile of bananas sits nearby with a metal cup and incense sticks at the lower left. Behind, a stone platform holds a plate of ash or sandy powder, a small oil lamp flame glows in a dark recess, and a large tree trunk with aerial roots forms the backdrop. Packed earth and a wooden-handled tool are visible on the ground.2013-04-24April 24 20132013-04-24February 01 20122012-02-01July 30 20112011-07-30Photo 11730111April 24 20132013-04-24April 24 20132013-04-24
