January 01 20122012-01-01Photo 11683525A four-panel collage of temple worship under a large banyan tree. Top-left panel shows two women in orange saris offering a plate before a golden deity murti with a red-and-gold backdrop, garlanded with marigolds and a green-and-red silk cloth. Top-right panel shows a tall banyan tree with aerial roots and a white platform wrapped in marigold garlands. Bottom-left panel shows a person in orange robes with hands folded before a golden deity murti draped in marigolds on a red pedestal, with offerings on a plate. Bottom-right panel shows a person in orange robes standing beside the banyan tree's trunk, which has a garland and small offering plates at its base. The collage is a graphic of photographs, so the people count reflects the collage's own panels, not a single scene.2010-02-12August 25 20112011-08-25Collage of three temple scenes from the July 2010 Photos of the Day feature. Top left: a man in white clothing with a yellow shawl ties or hangs offerings with garlands on the trunk of a large banyan tree. Top right: a man in white with a yellow shawl pours or offers water over a black stone linga with garlands and red kumkum powder at the base. Bottom: a man in white with a yellow shawl sits seated, performing puja beside brass oil lamps, a brass tray and vessels, in front of a decorated deity murti pair on a golden palanquin with orange and yellow silk and red-and-yellow garlands under an ornate golden arch.2010-07-08October 12 20112011-10-12Photo 11684196 +1 copiesNovember 21 20112011-11-21A three-panel photo collage of an outdoor shrine area. In the left panel, a long-haired man in saffron-orange robes with a sash stands barefoot beside a large tree trunk with hands folded. The top-right panel shows him in orange robes facing a golden deity murti with red and orange garlands and a red flower-strewn base under a canopy. The bottom-right panel shows him in orange, hands joined in prayer, beside the gilded murti and a stone pillar among trees. The person appears in an appearance-based candidate capacity, a person, with long swept-back hair and saffron ceremonial robes, though the figure is partly obscured and the identification is uncertain.February 23 20122012-02-23December 12 20112011-12-12Photo 11682542 +1 copies
