A tall copper deepam lamp pillar rises from a large bronze bowl filled with red rose garlands and yellow marigold garlands, set beneath a corrugated metal roof on steel trusses. The copper column has ribbed bands and a decorative lamp cup at its top, with a white cloth or offering wrapped around its base near a dark stone pedestal. Palm fronds appear at the upper corner, and a few small figures stand at the bottom edge near the flowers. The scene suggests a Karthigai Deepam lamp ritual setting, with the pillar as the central ceremonial object.2013-11-17November 17 20132013-11-17A tall copper deepam lamp stand rises from a dark base under an open-sided metal-roofed shelter, with palm fronds at the top of the frame. A large bronze bowl at its foot holds a lit wick-like offering, and a wreath of red flowers and yellow marigold garlands encircles the bowl. Below, a hand holds up a smartphone to photograph the scene. Blue and white cloth hangs at the left edge. No people are clearly seen besides the partial hand and a faint figure at the far left.2013-11-17A tall copper deepa stambham, a ceremonial lamp pillar, rises from a large bronze oil lamp (vilakku) at the centre of an open-sided roofed outdoor area. The bowl is wrapped in a band of red rose garlands and a yellow flower garland, with a white cloth draped at its rim. Paddy stalks are tied at the base of the pillar, and a carved finial sits on top. A dark metal roof and steel trusses frame the view against an overcast sky, with palm fronds at the top edge. Two people in white and dark clothing stand at the right edge near the lamp, and a seated figure in orange is partly visible at the left.2013-11-17November 22 20132013-11-22A tall copper flagstaff, or dhvaja stambham, rises against a pale sky beside a metal-roofed open shelter with red-painted posts. The pole has ringed bands along its length and a crowning wooden framework with tiered cross-pieces, decorated with a strand of orange and yellow marigold garlands and small finials. Palm fronds are visible at its base and in the lower right corner. No people are shown.2011-09-09June 18 20142014-06-18March 10 20132013-03-10Photo 11682556June 26 20142014-06-26June 08 20142014-06-08September 10 20122012-09-10
