Three men in the foreground perform worship: a bare-chested man in the left foreground with a shaved head and dark ash on his forehead, a man in the center with his back to the camera and bare shoulders, and a man at the right edge holding a lit oil lamp in front of the niche. Lamps and devotional items are set near the shrine base.2012-05-16August 20 20122012-08-20Photo 11734405June 03 20162016-06-03A photograph from above of a Shiva lingam inside a temple sanctum, set within an ornate silver yoni-pedestal with floral repoussé borders and a silver serpent coiled around it. The lingam is covered in red kumkum, with marigold and pink flower petals and green leaves scattered across it. A coconut sits at the left edge of the silver platform. Several bare feet of people standing barefoot on the wooden floor frame the lower edges of the image, and a few fingers of a hand rest on the silver railing at the bottom. The scene suggests an abhishekam or puja at a Shiva temple.2006-01-05Photograph inside a temple sanctum at a Shiva linga with marigold garlands and flower petals surrounding it on a dark stone base. In the foreground, a devotee with a shaved or short head and folded hands in prayer leans toward the linga. Behind the glass barrier, two people in saffron-orange robes with white shawls stand near a dark doorway, one with a white scarf. Brass and metal ritual objects, a small brass lamp, a red bowl and a pink mala sit on the white marble ledge, with a wooden rod or pipe above.2016-06-03July 30 20112011-07-30
