Each pot is a coconut topped with white jasmine garlands, set in colourful patterned bases, with green mango leaves at the rim. Behind them, several priests in white dhotis and white shawls sit cross-legged on the floor, one with a red thread on his wrist. Plates hold fruit, folded napkins, flowers and small brass vessels in the foreground, with a partly visible person at the left edge.2018-04-29 +1 copiesApril 29 20182018-04-29April 29 20182018-04-29A seated priest with a shaved head, tilak markings and a rudraksha mala performs a ritual on a striped cloth at an outdoor setting with potted plants. He wears a white dhoti and a yellow-and-red shawl, and his hands are raised over a arrangement of kalasha pots wrapped in white cloth and decorated with yellow marigold garlands and red flowers. Brick-like blocks, a tray of coconuts, and brass vessels stand nearby. Only his appearance and role are visible, with no clear cues to identify him as a person, so the figure is described as a priest performing a puja.2016-07-18A photograph of a ceremonial offering arrangement in a temple hall. A decorated tray or palanquin-like frame is heaped with yellow marigold garlands, red roses, and white flower petals, with jeweled ornamental strands and a green-bordered cloth beneath. A coconut, bananas, and a small kalasha-like vessel sit nearby on a red cloth. In the background, several men with bare upper bodies wear white dhotis with gold borders, seated with their backs to the camera. Striped and colourful garlands hang from the ceiling above.2018-04-14 +3 copiesPhoto inside a temple hall decorated with banana plants, colourful striped pillars and hanging garlands. Five men in white dhotis with saffron-yellow shawls and rudraksha or gold necklaces sit on a red-and-white striped mat around a decorated altar. A seated priest in a saffron-yellow shawl and white dhoti, with a tilak on his forehead, gestures with his hand toward an altar piled with red, pink and white flower garlands, fruit, brass lamps, kalasha pots and bowls. Behind the altar stand gold ceremonial umbrellas and a golden chariot-style seat. Stone deity statues stand in the background. The scene reads as a puja or abhishekam ritual.2018-04-14April 29 20182018-04-29Ritual scene at a temple: a young man in a rust-orange cloth with a dark turban-style headwrap, a long beaded necklace and rudraksha-style malas, sits on a stone floor arranging flowers and fruit onto a brass plate of pink petals. Beside him, an older bare-chested priest in a white dhoti and shawl with a white sacred thread and forehead markings chants over a tray. Coconuts with white flower garlands sit in painted pots, with lemons and oranges on green leaves, and sanctified items lie on a purple cloth.2018-04-29 +1 copies
