In the centre, on a gold throne with cushions, sits a figure with white hair and beard wearing a flower garland and a dark shawl over light clothing, a sannyasi-style presentation. In front, a bare-backed priest in a white dhoti sits at a fire pit ringed with marigold petals. To the right, a man in saffron robes with a rudraksha mala holds a book and reads, beside a woman in a red-and-pink sari with a white shawl who sits on a mat. A small child sits in front of her. Brass lamps and flower-decorated deity figures stand on a left-side altar with a red and orange cloth. The scene depicts a homa or shiva puja ritual.2022-01-24A photograph of a ritual homa inside a yellow-pillared open pavilion. A large framed image of a seated figure wearing an orange-and-saffron outfit, a flower garland and a crown-like headdress sits on a golden throne with a red cushion, which is a depiction of a person rather than a living presence. In front, a shaved-headed priest in white dhoti sits cross-legged on the floor facing the fire pit, with a rudraksha-style mala visible at his neck. Two women in red saris sit at the right with ritual items. Marigold garlands, brass lamps, kalasha vessels, fruit and flower offerings surround a square fire pit, and an orange cloth is draped at left beside a decorated stand. A man in dark clothing sits behind the seated figure's throne on the right.2022-01-24December 02 20162016-12-02 +1 copies
