A blue-skinned deity with a tall gold crown sits centrally on a red and gold throne, adorned with a garland and jewelry, with a small brass oil lamp set before him. Around him stand numerous courtiers and attendants in gold and yellow dhotis and gold headdresses, some holding trays and a bow, with palm trees, red and gold pillars and bunting in the background. A small figure in white stands near the throne. The mural is painted in bright colours on a wall with a decorative cornice. No physical people are present in this photograph of the artwork.2006-11-10A large framed painting in a brown wooden frame depicts an outdoor woodland scene with blue mountains, a river and tall trees under a pale sky. A blue-skinned figure with a tall golden crown and a garland stands at centre, hand raised, with a second crowned figure in green and gold armour and a sword to the right. Five men in orange dhotis with gold belts and pearl necklaces stand on the left, and two men in white dhotis with drums stand at far right. The painted figures are artwork, not physical people.2006-11-10A painted mural scene of a rural forest setting with a thatched-roof hut at left and a large tree behind. Six figures stand together in orange dhoti-style garments with pearl necklaces, belts and armlets. The central figure, taller and at the center, wears a gold crown and an ornate golden belt, and stands with the others in a group with arms folded or hands clasped. The figures appear to be part of a painted narrative tableau rather than physical people, with hills and greenery in the background.2006-11-10A painted temple wall mural in a painted panel with a yellow and blue border showing a row of Vaishnava saints and deities. Center-left, a blue-skinned deity with a white Vishnu-style tilak stands beneath a golden arch, flanked by consorts in green and red saris. To the right, a seated blue-skinned figure under a tree sits on a throne with striped white and green garlands, while bare-chested, shaven-headed devotees in white dhotis stand with palms joined. On the far right, a figure in a tall feathered headdress holds a staff. Above, a reclining deity rests in the tree branches. Tamil captions run along the bottom of the panel. The painting is a mural with no physical people present.2008-07-29 +1 copiesA painted mural in a palace hall depicts a royal court scene. A blue-skinned figure with a tall golden crown, pearl necklaces and a garland stands at right holding a sword, flanked by attendants in golden crowns and yellow dhotis. At center a figure in a teal bodice and gold belt raises an arm, while a seated king in a golden-framed throne with red drapery watches. Red swagged curtains hang above and courtiers in crowns and gold jewellery fill the background. No physical people are visible; the subjects are painted figures.2006-11-10A painted mural inside a palace-style hall shows a royal wedding or sacred marriage ritual beside a fire pit. A crowned figure in gold and red garments with a flower garland stands at the centre beside a woman in teal and blue, who holds a garland and a small offering. Attendants in orange and saffron clothing, one bare-chested with a sacred thread, kneel or stand around the fire, some holding offerings and flowers. Behind them a painted red-curtained arch and a building with arched windows, with turbaned men in white garments at the right edge. A pot and flower offerings sit on the floor. The image is a painting on a wall, so no physical people are present.2006-11-10A man in a flowing saffron-orange robe and a thick gold necklace stands at right, long dark hair swept back, pointing up toward a wall of large painted panels. Beside him a bare-chested man in a white dhoti and a white sacred thread looks on. At far right a partly visible man in white gestures toward the paintings. The mural panels depict Hindu epic scenes: a figure with a golden crown and blue skin embraced by a forest-dwelling pair in a cave, a bow-wielding blue-skinned hero with a winged attendant beside a palace, and a group of figures in saffron dhotis before a thatched hut. Warm orange drapery and pillars frame the left edge.2006-11-10July 13 20092009-07-13Indoor photo of a room with framed painted murals of episodes from the Mahabharata on the walls, showing warriors in gold and red garments, a woman in blue on the floor, and a fallen figure. A bearded man in a white dhoti with a gold necklace stands at left, looking at the paintings. At right, a man with long dark hair wears a saffron-orange robe, a long gold-beaded necklace and a rudraksha-style mala, and gazes at the murals; two other men in white dhotis and orange shawls stand behind him. A small wooden stool sits in front of the wall.2006-11-09November 09 20062006-11-09
