A seated figure in orange robes with long dark curly hair leans forward and tips a round dark stone vessel over a wet dark mud or paste surface spread on the floor. Around them stand five or six young men in white dhotis and kurtas with orange shawls, several with hands pressed together or clasped, a few with rudraksha or a white badge around the neck, and one holding a wooden staff. The wall behind is rough grey plaster. Several figures are only partly visible at the left edge. The scene suggests a consecration rite for a garbha, the sanctum foundation of a temple.2006-12-11July 14 20132013-07-14July 14 20132013-07-14July 14 20132013-07-14A photograph of an outdoor construction scene under trees, where several workers carry a heavy dark granite slab with carved relief lines across its face, lifting it with cloth-wrapped hands over a rough stone and cement base. A man in white shirt and white dhoti with a red neck cord is at the centre, guiding the stone. Other men in white clothing and an orange-clad figure stand nearby, and a yellow machine wheel is visible at the left edge.2004-12-31October 08 20072007-10-08Night photograph of a Shiva linga installation. A bare-chested man with long dark hair and a crown-like headpiece? No, he wears an orange-saffron shawl over his shoulder and a peach-coloured dhoti with a maroon border, and a ring on his hand, placing his hand on a long stone pillar being chiselled. A man in a red-and-white checked shirt kneels and strikes the stone with a hammer and chisel. The black stone yoni-peetha base holds a shivalinga-shaped stone, with orange marigold petals and white flower or rice scattered on the red-stained ground around it. Several men in white shirts and dhotis, some wearing black rudraksha or beaded necklaces, stand behind watching in the dark.2006-12-22A photograph of a group of devotees in white dhotis and kurtas with orange sashes gathered around a heavy wooden beam fitted into a stone base, apparently moving or shifting a large idol in an indoor hall with bare concrete floor. Several men in white and orange stand bent and lean on the long log, while others in white and orange, some in saris, watch from the sides and behind. A man in a white shirt and checked lungi stands in the foreground pushing the beam, and a man in a light blue shirt holds the log overhead. A man with a shaved head in white kneels at the base. Off-white draped fabric hangs at the top right, and a yellow machine frame appears at the upper left. Bare feet are visible throughout.2007-04-19
