Photo 11697661 +2 copiesA group of devotees sits on mats under an open-sided shelter with red pillars, performing a puja with brass plates, small oil lamps and offerings laid out before them. A bare-chested man in white dhoti with a gold border, brass-coloured rudraksha mala and gold chain, hands pressed in anjali, sits at left. Other men in white dhotis, some bare-chested with malas, and women in pink and teal salwar kurtas sit at the front, several wearing blue surgical masks. A woman in a yellow top sits at lower right. Nobody in the scene shows distinctive a person cues, so no candidate is identified. Dry earth, a tree and laundry lie beyond the shelter.2021-06-03Photo 11702303Overhead view of a ritual performed on a paved courtyard at a Hindu puja setup. Three men sit on the ground on striped woven mats: a seated man in white dhoti with a flower garland and bare chest offers something from a small vessel, facing a man in orange-and-white cloth with a rudraksha mala who holds a ritual implement. A third man on the left wears white with a shawl and glasses and sits beside a wooden box draped in flower garlands. In front are plates of bananas, rice, betel-leaf offerings, marigold and jasmine flowers, brass lamps and kumkum bowls, with a yellow-cloth bundle wrapped in marigold garlands. A sunken yellow square fire pit lies behind them. Rudra abhishekam-style offerings are arranged around the central setup.2017-04-17Photo 11696485 +1 copiesA photograph of two shirtless priests seated on the ground before a wooden door with brass studs and a stone wall. The central priest, wearing a white dhoti, a yellow shawl draped over one shoulder and beaded necklaces, has white sacred markings on his forehead and arms and is handling offerings with his hands. Before him sit woven baskets of white flowers and green leaves, and brass plates heaped with yellow flowers and white rice. A second priest sits to the left in a white dhoti with a brass vessel nearby.2017-04-03June 23 20182018-06-23A photograph of a group of men seated on reddish-brown earth and gravel, apparently on a hillside. Most wear white dhoti-style clothing with yellow shawls, and several have rudraksha malas and white or painted forehead markings. In the foreground, a man in an orange shawl holds a small cloth-wrapped object and a dark striped bag. Two men in the middle hold small items and one holds a steel lid. Two steel vessels sit on the ground beside them, with more people and scrub brush in the background.2009-08-05July 31 20172017-07-31 +1 copiesPhoto 11712979December 07 20162016-12-07Outdoor photograph of a ritual gathering on a sandy ground with green trees, yellow flowering shrubs and banana plants behind. A central figure with long dark swept-back hair, wearing a saffron-orange wrap and orange rudraksha-style beads, stands barefoot facing a group. Around him are men in white dhotis and white shirts, several bald priests with red-bordered white cloths and sacred thread, and a man in a yellow dhoti holding a tray of offerings. A man in a white shirt and brown trousers stands near the centre with hands together. On the right, a woman in a white sari watches. Smoke rises from an incense or offering in the background. Swamiji (probable): the central figure with long hair, saffron wrap and orange beads is the probable candidate, shown in person as a participant.2011-01-16
