Photo 11710173February 20 20172017-02-20Outdoor procession around a decorated deity murti (utsava moorthy) carried on a wooden palanquin-style cart under a colourful multi-panelled umbrella with tassels. The murti is heavily garlanded with white and red flowers and yellow marigolds, with gold and orange offering plates and kalasha-like pots. A man in an orange-saffron robe with long swept-back hair and a rudraksha mala raises his hand and smiles near the cart; his presentation is consistent with the page's a person reference but the face and details are not confidently established, so he is described by role as a sannyasi in saffron. Around them about a dozen devotees in white dhotis and cream sarees raise hands in devotion, some holding incense or aarti, with a man in a white shirt and shoulder bag at the front. Trees and a dirt field form the backdrop.2009-12-23A crowd of devotees in white and orange clothing gathers outdoors before a shrine with red curtains and a stone archway. On the shrine, a large deity murti with blue and orange garments, gold crown and garlands stands beside a decorated altar with white cloths and flower garlands. In the foreground, a man in a white shirt and white dhoti with folded hands holds a small orange-robed figurine of a saint wearing a saffron turban and white flower garlands on a red tray. Brass oil lamps stand on the platform, and a woman in a white sari watches at the right.2008-08-07January 18 20172017-01-18Photo 11738324 +2 copiesJanuary 14 20092009-01-14December 28 20082008-12-28Outdoor temple courtyard under a corrugated roof with stone pillars, where a ceremony is taking place. Near the centre, a man with long dark hair wears an orange saffron shawl over white and holds a flower garland, hands pressed together in prayer. Beside him, men in white dhotis and orange wraps stand or sit with folded hands. A brass tray with offerings and small brass lamps sits on a low wooden platform, and a decorated deity murti in pink cloth and yellow and red flower garlands stands at right. Several devotees in white, some holding a flower tray, watch from the left. Red and white umbrellas and orange bunting hang overhead.2006-12-29Photo 11738325 +1 copiesDecember 20 20092009-12-20January 02 20162016-01-02 +1 copies
