November 18 20162016-11-18A photograph of a construction scene on a sloped, tiled-roof structure with red flags on poles. A crane hoists a large carved stone element. Four men work on the steps: one in a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl stands at left with arms raised toward the load, another in a yellow shirt and dark trousers helps, a third in a pink shirt and dark trousers reaches toward the stone, and a fourth in a beige shirt stands at right beside a metal railing. Oleander shrubs with pink flowers and a clear blue sky fill the background. The man in saffron is the only figure whose clothing suggests a sannyasi; no one is identified as a person.2016-11-18November 18 20162016-11-18A photograph of an outdoor construction and installation scene on a red-brick stepped platform lined with saffron flags. A sannyasi-style figure in an orange-saffron dhoti and wrap with rudraksha beads on the arm, seen from behind, guides a large dark stone object wrapped in cloth, lifted by a crane on the right. A second worker in yellow helps steady it, and a young man in a gold-yellow shirt and jeans holds a metal railing beside a chain-link fence. Oleander bushes with pink flowers grow behind. Another worker in a pink shirt stands further back near a small structure.2016-11-18A photograph of a red-and-cream stepped platform with a fence and red-orange flags on poles. A man in saffron-orange dhoti and wrap, seen from behind with a rudraksha mala on his arm, stands on the steps. A man in a yellow and red top lifts a stack of tyres in a cloth sling, while a young man in a cream shirt and jeans, barefoot on the step, holds a long wooden pole. Oleander shrubs with pink flowers and a small white box stand behind them, with a fenced construction area in the background.2016-11-18A photograph of a temple festival at a shrine with a copper-coloured ratha or chariot-style base decorated with yellow, white and green garlands. A man in orange robes with curly dark hair kneels on the white platform, pulling on a thick rope, while another man in orange cloth stands beside him. A man in orange with a white forehead mark and a flower garland looks up and holds the rope, and a bald man in orange with a mala stands at left. Behind them a crowd watches under a yellow, green and red canopy, with painted panels and a red umbrella at left. Scattered marigold petals lie on the platform.2009-01-02March 26 20172017-03-26Outdoor photograph of a construction site with a crane lifting a large bronze-coloured bell suspended from a cable. Three men work on steps below: a man in a saffron-orange robe with a rudraksha mala holds up his hand toward the bell, a man in a yellow shirt and dark trousers stands beside him, and a man in a pink shirt and dark trousers reaches toward the crane. A red-orange flag lines the steps, and rows of red-tiled seating stretch to the left under a pale blue sky with oleander shrubs behind a metal railing.2016-11-18Photo 11705616 +1 copiesOutdoor photo of workers on a stone stair moving a large round stone slab on wooden poles lashed with rope. Four men in checked lungis, headcloths and white shirts carry the poles down the steps toward a black stone Shivalinga on a square red-and-white plinth in a sunken amphitheatre. Water streams from the lingam and pools across the stone floor, and two figures in red stand near it. Tiered red steps with rows of small lamps rise behind, and a dry hillside and trees lie beyond the wall.Outdoor photo of a temple construction site where a crane lifts a grey stone deity sculpture. Several men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls handle the lifting, with one bare-chested man in orange guiding the load. Rows of carved grey granite figures, including seated sages with beards and mala necklaces and a standing deity with a halo, rest on a red-brown plinth behind a wire mesh fence. Red and orange flags flank the scene under an overcast sky. Yellow crane arm and hook are visible at top left.2016-09-03November 13 20222022-11-13
